Overview

We are seeking a Process Engineer with extensive hands-on expertise in Downstream chemicals catalytic processes to join the Downstream Operation Engineering Solutions Department (OESD).

OESD's technical team provides high-quality, multi-disciplinary support to GM operating facilities (Refineries, NGLF, and petrochemical plants) within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and globally.

Your primary role is to be responsible for the total catalyst and absorbents management of the process units, including advisory on catalyst selection, performance evaluation & optimization, benchmarking, cost optimization, field technical support and spent catalyst handling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review operations of process catalysts and absorbents by monitoring key performance indicators which include but not limited to product yields, deactivation rates, remaining lifecycle, etc. Issue performance and benchmarking reports highlighting any performance gaps and recommendations for optimization.
  • Support process technology engineers onsite in resolving any catalysts and absorbents performance gaps and implementation of optimization initiatives.
  • Be part of the Global Manufacturing technical team in providing technical advisory for catalyst and absorbents technical procurement package optimization, catalyst techno-economic evaluation, selection, and review of performance guarantees in accordance with established company procedures.
  • Support and coordinate with other internal stakeholders, when necessary, on the requirements to conduct catalyst pilot testing activities.
  • Act as pool manager for managing emergency catalyst exchanges between assets, catalyst regeneration, re-use, metal reclamation and spent catalyst monetization in general.
  • Maintain database of Global Manufacturing catalysts and absorbents detailing the technology providers, quantity, next loading forecasts, etc.
  • Develop the hydroprocessing catalyst cascading roadmap across multiple assets in Global Manufacturing to maximize usage of both fresh and regenerated catalysts.
  • Provide field support to catalyst related activities when needed such as loading & unloading, regeneration & rejuvenation, pre-sulfiding & activation, process optimization, and troubleshooting, in collaboration with facility process engineers and other stakeholders.
  • Manage precious metals used in catalysts, including leasing or reclamation processes, for wholly-owned assets and facilitate any metal pool synergy with Affiliates.
  • Support the pilot testing or field demonstration of commercial catalysts and in-house developed catalysts in Saudi Aramco facilities in collaboration with R&D and other corporate technical entities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. Advanced degree is preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of 17 years of total experience in chemical catalytic units (i.e., hydroprocessing, catalytic cracking, reforming, isomerization, etc) with practical experience in catalysts & absorbents selection, performance evaluation, optimization, troubleshooting, operation, regeneration, and catalyst handling.
  • Exposure to various technology licensors (i.e., UOP, Axens, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience and proficiency in using process engineering simulation programs and tools
  • Expertise in innovation and intellectual property development is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Process Requirements and Operational Readiness: Lead the planning and execution of E-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) new launch activities, ensuring that all operational readiness requirements are met. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define process requirements, timelines, and resources. Ensure readiness of equipment, tools, and materials for smooth operations. Identify, trial, and implement tools, equipment, and processes to improve safety, quality, and production efficiency. Develop and implement training programs for production teams.

Coordinate integration of new equipment with manufacturing engineering, quality, and logistics. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for smooth launch execution.
  • Team and Resource Management: Lead and mentor the E-Powertrain launch team, manage staffing and resource needs, and ensure timely availability of materials and tools. Foster a collaborative environment focused on safety, quality, and productivity, and align team priorities with production goals.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track process progress and KPIs aligned with the e-Powertrain process strategy. Report productivity, quality performance, and risks to senior management and maintain reporting on product performance, budgets, and resource utilization.
  • Problem Resolution and Continuous Improvement: Address challenges during production/launch, participate in root-cause analysis and problem-solving, apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 13+ years of experience in EV manufacturing at reputable OEMs, with strong background in Powertrain, EV operations, high automation, Batteries, Electrical Drive Unit, and launch activities.
  • Proven leadership and managerial experience overseeing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with ERP systems and production planning software; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English.
  • Previous leadership experience in Powertrain EV industry operations.
  • Additional preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant field and understanding of APQP, lean manufacturing, and procurement/supply chain.
  • Flexibility in work schedule (including evenings and weekends, as needed). Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, SAP, AutoCAD, and 3D design is a plus.

Our client, an international mining company is seeking Director - Metallurgy and Process Engineering who will be responsible for leading a team of professional and technical staff to maximize the operational efficiencies in refractory, oxide, carbon in leach, floatation, and heap leach precious metal processing.

**Responsibilities:
- Developing systems and measures that appropriately assess the operating facilities, laboratories, and collective team's performance.
- Leading investigations and implement opportunities to increase competitive advantages and align them with the organization's overall strategy.
- Coaching and mentoring metallurgical department personnel.
- Ensuring compliance with company and site-specific policies, standards, procedures, and objectives and recommend new policies or procedures, if necessary.
- Overseeing annual budget preparation and management of departmental costs
- Sourcing and retaining high quality geology personnel, and ensuring that the team receives appropriate training, mentoring, knowledge transfer and performance management reviews.
- Support technical expertise in Metallurgy and Processing Engineering at an affiliate and functional level to enable company policies, standards, and procedures to be met effectively.
- Provide input into the formulation, improvement, and measure effectiveness of the company policies, standards, and procedures.
- Support in interpretation of the company standards and support affiliates in the development and improvement of local systems and support the Corporate Subject Matter Expert team.
- Provide support to technical (Metallurgy and Processing Engineering) communications that are aligned with company policies and programs.
- Be the champion of change for improvement in all aspects of metal processing but not limited to existing operation and growth study.

**Requirements**:Qualification and Skill**_

- Minimum 15 years of experience in metallurgical operations & engineering for gold & base metals
- Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical, Minerals/Chemical Engineering.
- Knowledge of Metallurgical Accounting Standard.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of life-of-mine planning including budgeting and metal planning.
- Experience with plant control systems and use of data historian trends for operating and reporting.
- Ability to present to and collaborate with corporate executives and the site Senior Leadership Team required.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
