Accountabilities:

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in materials planning or supply chain management within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Proficiency in materials planning software like SAP.
  • Fluent in both English and Arabic (spoken and written)
  • Certification in supply chain or inventory management (e.g., APICS CPIM) is advantageous.

Project Overview:
Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and support material planning and/or material coordination for a project. Planning involves providing work process and system expertise during the early project stages. Coordination will include communicating material availability, accuracy, and timeliness to the correct location. Your team will ensure the location receives the required materials to complete the project. #LI-AR2




Major Responsibilities:

  • Reviews the initial master schedule, detailed timing and sequence of each functional group, and actual progress of each group to confirm that materials meet required delivery dates.Reviews any schedule revisions for impacts and participates in the development of contingency planning.

  • Ensures adherence to the project execution plan and that key activities are performed in the right sequence.

  • Coordinates the project plan for identifying major equipment and bulk materials with Engineering.Identifies what information can be imported from Engineering programs, and that tag numbers are compatible with the automation program fields.

  • Ensures that items on the equipment list have been identified for requisition and purchase, and that requisition issue dates support project detail schedules.Monitors Engineering progress in the preparation and issuance of material requisitions.

  • Issues the material responsibility matrix to reflect the agreed division of functional responsibilities for material activities among project, support, and field offices.

  • Interfaces between Construction and Procurement to identify, requisition and establish delivery dates for material requirements resulting from design changes, rework, contingency/work arounds, scope changes, or materials missed in Engineering take-offs.

  • Monitors Procurement reports and activities to ensure that purchasing and expediting are working effectively to maintain milestone schedule dates.

  • Reviews plans at the jobsite for adequacy of material warehousing, maintenance, control and handling.Ensures efficiency of all material issue to Construction.

  • Coordinates with Construction and Field Procurement the plans for material identification, material availability in support of installation plans, and equipment requiring special handling at the site.

  • Formulates specialized training and career development programs necessary to assure that all assigned material management personnel are properly trained and qualified.

  • May prepare annual reviews regarding performance for assigned Material Planners and Coordinators.

  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of work hour estimates and organisational charts for the project and obtains management approval.Establishes long-range personnel requirements and coordinates timely staffing of positions.Monitors personnel utilization throughout the duration of the project.



Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience




Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of all procurement operations related to the management of materials at area, regional, temporary and jobsite office locations.

  • Advanced knowledge in Field Engineering and Construction activities, and knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures related to materials management functions.

  • Advanced knowledge of all Engineering disciplines, the work process and the deliverables produced.

  • Advanced knowledge of applicable Bechtel policies, instructions, and Procurement procedures and guidelines.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in the use of the Digital Supply Chain System (DSCS), SiteSense and related engineering and other project data systems that interface with DSCS.

  • Prior experience in major global, direct hire and contract management projects, which include Engineering, Procurement and materials control activities.

Job Summary:

This position manages a team that is responsible for all activities related to materials planning and inventory management of the plant. This includes demand planning, master scheduling, production planning, buying/expediting, receiving, cycle counting and shipping as well as the sales inventory and operations planning (SIOP) process for the plant. The performance of this role is measured by improvements in Inventory Days on Hand, On time Delivery to the customer and Schedule Attainment.

The materials manager reports to the plant manager and works closely with peers in other functions such as operations, sourcing, customer service and sales to support the growth of the company through customer satisfaction and management of working capital.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Promote a safety-first workplace

• Manage all day-to-day processes and activities related to master scheduling, demand planning, production planning, buying/expediting, receiving, cycle counting and shipping

• Responsible for achieving inventory reduction objectives.

• Leads the implementation of materials planning and inventory management best practices.

• Responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy.

• Conducts daily, weekly and monthly review of key inventory reports that includes ageing inventory, system parameter compliance, parts/material shortages, negative-on-hand, inventory days-on-hand etc on an as needed basis.

• Maintain master data and parameters of all ERP materials planning and inventory management processes.

• Drive production schedule attainment in collaboration with the operations team.

• Root cause inventory discrepancies and implement preventive actions to achieve the target of inventory accuracy.

• Responsible for the execution and performance of the weekly master scheduling process.

• Responsible for the monthly SIOP process for the plant.

• Support item phase-ins or phase-outs from a supply chain perspective.

• Participate as a member in the global materials council that drives best practice standardization and Inventory Days on Hand reduction across all global manufacturing location within our organization.

• Drive career development and talent management within the plant materials team.

• Support the operational excellence roadmap and culture of the plant in a high energy team environment.

Education & Qualifications:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct construction material tests for concrete, soil, asphalt . etc., including determination of moisture content, liquid limit, plastic limit, particle density, particle size distribution, dry density . etc.
  • Conduct aggregate tests including sieve analysis, fine passing, silt content, relative density & water absorption, bulk density, moisture content, L. A. Abrasion . etc.
  • Conduct concrete tests including concrete mix design, determination of slump; density of compacted fresh concrete; test cubes from fresh concrete; density of hardened concrete, compressive strength of concrete . etc.
  • Conduct building stone tests including flexural strength, modulus of rupture, compressive strength and absorption & bulk specific gravity.
  • Conduct steel tests, tile tests, kerbstone tests, bituminous mixture tests and bitumen tests.
  • Ensure tests are carried out in accordance with relevant standards and procedures and performed in expedient and quality conscious manner.
  • Notify Lab Supervisor when sampling indicates failure in product quality.
  • Record test results and compare them with applicable standards.
  • Inform Supervisor of any equipment defect/breakdown.
  • Use appropriate protective tools to ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Ensure testing laboratory and equipment are clean and in orderly fashion.
  • Test stores and logs samples; retrieves cylinders from field projects; and dispose tested samples.
  • Monitor the operation, maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
  • Ensure proper disposal of lab waste.
  • Demonstrate superior customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation and efficiency.

Implement testing program, review test results, follow up equipment maintenance and calibration and follow up the requirements for safety. Conduct routine materials testing assignments, including testing asphalt, concrete, aggregate, soil and other common construction materials; operates, calibrates and maintains testing tools and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct construction material tests for concrete, soil, asphalt etc., including determination of moisture content, liquid limit, plastic limit, particle density, particle size distribution, dry density etc.
  • Conduct aggregate tests including sieve analysis, fine passing, silt content, relative density & water absorption, bulk density, moisture content, L. A. Abrasion etc.
  • Conduct concrete tests including concrete mix design, determination of slump; density of compacted fresh concrete; test cubes from fresh concrete; density of hardened concrete, compressive strength of concrete etc.
  • Conduct building stone tests including flexural strength, modulus of rupture, compressive strength and absorption & bulk specific gravity.
  • Conduct steel tests, tile tests, kerbstone tests, bituminous mixture tests and bitumen tests.
  • Ensure tests are carried out in accordance with relevant standards and procedures and performed in expedient and quality conscious manner.
  • Notify Lab Supervisor when sampling indicates failure in product quality.
  • Record test results and compare them with applicable standards.
  • Inform Supervisor of any equipment defect/breakdown.
  • Use appropriate protective tools to ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Ensure testing laboratory and equipment are clean and in orderly fashion.
  • Test stores and logs samples; retrieves cylinders from field projects; and dispose tested samples.
  • Monitor the operation, maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
  • Ensure proper disposal of lab waste.
  • Demonstrate superior customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation and efficiency.
  • Any duties or responsibilities assigned by the management.

This position will directly report to the Lab Supervisor

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma degree in Civil Engineering or any related field.
  • Technical Certification (ACI)
  • 4-8 years of experience in Civil Engineering field.
