AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced and proactive Vertical Transportation Engineering Specialist.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Design Consultant's work on vertical transportation systems, including lifts, escalators, and travelators, within the city.
  • Provide technical guidance to Design Consultants through regular review meetings and formal requests for information.
  • Act as the single point of contact for technical issues between the Design Consultant and NEOM's wider functions, sectors, and departments.
  • Lead design reviews of technical design deliverables, ensuring alignment with THE LINE Codes, Standards, Guidelines, and Requirements.
  • Ensure consistency in design solutions across THE LINE.
  • Identify key risks and document them in the Risk Register, following through with mitigation strategies.
  • Escalate high-risk design issues to the relevant Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Drive innovation and best practices in design delivery by appointed consultants.
  • Integrate considerations for innovation, sustainability, and operations and maintenance into the design process.

Requirements
  • Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field of study, or equivalent.
  • Chartered Membership of a recognized professional institution/organization or Professional Engineer status is preferred.
  • Minimum of 20 years of professional experience, with a significant portion in the required expertise discipline.
    • Exposure to the Middle East is advantageous.
  • Strong international presence in the vertical transportation discipline.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Codes, Standards, and Guidelines related to vertical transportation in high-rise buildings.
  • Deep understanding of sustainability principles and their integration into design.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical directions effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in urban planning, with a focus on sustainable development and innovative design solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable plans.
  • Proficiency in GIS software and mapping tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of urban planning principles, zoning regulations, and land use policies.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for creating livable, resilient communities and improving urban environments.
  • Familiarity with Saudi Arabian urban planning regulations and cultural considerations is a plus.
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable.

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Senior Planning Engineer to join our project in Madinah.

We envisage success in this role to include;

  • Operating to implement commercial/contractual matters within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Coordinating with project managers, consultants, and contractors to align the schedule with project milestones and deliverables.
  • Monitoring progress against the baseline schedule and prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Attending project meetings and provide inputs on planning, sequencing, and scheduling.
  • Ensuring that planning and scheduling activities comply with contractual requirements and industry best practices.
  • Supporting risk management and mitigation planning.
  • Performing analysis on project variations and changes, prepare project reports, analyze information for adjustments to project budget as necessary to assure a successful project for the client and the firm.
  • Acting to measure works on site and from drawings including competence with electronic measurement systems.
  • Processing and interpreting contract conditions.
  • Understanding, identifying and assessing project risks.
  • Communicating effectively, both verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of Standard Method of Measurement of construction works.

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 15 years work experience partnered with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

You will have worked on various large scale mixed use projects that include luxury hotels, and the associated works that would be needed to support such assets.
