Job DescriptionThe Department of Civil Engineering & Environmental Engineering is seeking potential Saudi candidates holding a Master degree for research and teaching purposes in one of the following specializations:
- Geotechnical Engineering
- Transportation and Highway Engineering
The candidate will be expected to be available for professional duties for approximately 35-40 hours per week and to carry out teaching, research, academic advising, administrative duties, and any other academic duties assigned by the academic department concerned. The candidate must also adhere to any other job responsibilities imposed by the Ministry of Civil Service regulations.
QualificationsApplicants must have:
- An earned Master’s degree from a reputable university in the relevant field.
- A full-time Master’s degree with very good grades.
- Certificate equivalency if the degree was obtained from outside the Kingdom.

- Interpret environmental policies and procedures for operations, maintenance, and PRC management to ensure proper action is taken as needed.
- Review and consolidate reports on GHG, sustainability, ERM, RC, ESG, LTA Lenders), Aramco, BOD, MCPR, DSCM and environmental audits. Apprise Management on audit findings and environmental compliance.

- Conduct in-depth research, collect and analyze data from diverse sources (e.g., solid waste composition studies specific to Taif, recycling rates, landfill capacity, and environmental monitoring data related to solid waste within the Taif region), and perform rigorous needs assessments to identify solid waste management challenges, emerging trends, and opportunities for improvementwithin the Taif Municipality.
- Lead the development of comprehensive and innovative solid waste management strategies and action plans specifically tailored for the Amana of Taif, incorporating solid waste reduction, reuse, recycling, treatment, resource recovery, and environmentally sound disposal methods.
- Define and establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and targets to track the effectiveness of solid waste management initiatives within the Amana of Taif, develop data collection methodologies to ensure accurate and reliable data, measure progress towards strategic goals in the area of solid waste.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and effective solid waste management practicesacross all relevant departments and operations of the Taif Municipality.
- Collaborate with relevant departments within the Amana of Taif, as well as external government agencies, private sector partners, community organizations, and international experts to ensure effective plan implementation, knowledge sharing, and alignment of strategic initiatives related to solid wastewithin the Taif region.
- Monitor performance against KPIs, analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and correlations related to solid waste generation, collection, and processing within Taif, conduct rigorous evaluations of plan effectiveness, identify areas for optimization, and recommend data-driven adjustments to strategies and targets in solid waste managementfor the Taif Municipality.
- Ensure that all solid waste management activities within the Amana of Taif comply with environmental regulations, permits, and best practices, promoting environmental stewardship and minimizing negative impacts on the Taif region.
- Develop communication strategies to promote awareness of solid waste management initiatives within the Amana of Taif and to encourage community engagement and participationamong Taif residents and businesses.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and policy recommendations for senior management within the Amana of Taif, as well as external stakeholders, related to solid waste.
- Analyze diverse data to drive strategic decision-making and optimize solid waste management practices within the context of the Taif Municipality.
- Act as a key player in promoting a culture of sustainability and solid waste reduction throughout the Amana of Taif and within the broader Taif community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Urban Planning, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field,with a focus on solid waste management and familiarity with the environmental context of Saudi Arabia.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in strategic solid waste management planning, policy development, and project managementwithin a municipal or regional context.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement KPIs and track performance metrics in solid waste management.
- Experience developing and implementing SOPs in solid waste management.
- Expertise in data analysis techniques, statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) relevant to solid waste dataspecific to urban environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills specifically applied to solid waste challengesfaced by municipalities.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills related to solid waste managementand the ability to engage diverse stakeholders within the Taif community.

Skills
- Certified Lead Auditor (IRCA EMS ISO 14001:2015) or equivalent,with experience auditing solid waste facilities in Saudi Arabia or similar environments.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001) applicable to solid waste operations.
- Experience in developing and implementing solid waste management strategieswithin a Saudi Arabian municipality .
