Shear International Co. Ltd is looking for an Electrical Supervisor in its Steel Foundry & Iron Casting Factory in Jeddah, KSA. The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all electrical maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting activities in the facility. This includes managing a team of electricians, ensuring equipment reliability, compliance with safety standards, and minimizing downtime of critical systems such as furnaces, cranes, compressors, and control panels. The role ensures uninterrupted power supply and safe operation of all electrical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities: Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
  • Supervise installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, panels, motors, drives, and control equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical faults in foundry-specific machinery including induction furnaces, molding lines, cranes, and compressors.
  • Monitor and ensure reliable operation of power distribution systems and backup systems (e.g., generators, UPS).
Planning & Supervision:
  • Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Allocate tasks to electricians and monitor job completion with quality and safety.

Job Description

The ideal candidate for this position will succeed in this role if they have both knowledge and technical depth about the company and the industry. Responsibilities

  • Assess equipment FAT/delivery status and track licensing preparation progress.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in Electrical Engineering, Electric Apparatus or Electric Work are preferred.

Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in testing Substation equipment such as Switchgear, MCC, Transformer, etc, ideally in the oil and gas or petrochemical sectors.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical systems design and site testing methods.
  • Understanding of complete project schedule, energization requirement and procedure
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and coordinating electrical equipment testing activities.

**People Management**
- Supervise the activities and work of the team members to ensure that targets and objectives are achieved and the business plan is delivered in line with the required policies, processes, procedures and systems.

Maintenance Management

- Ensure that all maintenance documentation for the electrical activities are completed correctly including the Maintenance Log, outlining the fault, method of repair and the time, labour and materials used to support timely availability of information.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment
- Ensure adherence to all relevant health, safety, security and environmental procedures, instructions and controls so that the safety of employees and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.

Inventory Management
- Monitor the material/spare parts requirement for the Electrical maintenance activities, and facilitate the procurement of stocks to ensure accurate and timely availability and replenishment of the required stock.

Reporting to the Engineering Organization, the Electrical Engineer designs, develops, and improves new and existing products using sound engineering principles. He/she provides technical support to manufacturing, sustaining, and field operations, troubleshooting electrical problems from the component level to the system level. He/she also supports the field service department in troubleshooting Drilling rig electrical control system problems. He/she creates bills of materials, drawings, and assembly instructions. He/she may mentor designers, technicians, and engineers.

  • Generates and reviews documents such as design requirements, block diagrams, flowcharts, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, bills of materials, test plans, test procedures, inspection procedures, user’s manuals, and maintenance manuals etc
  • Performs engineering calculations as required
  • Designs electrical rig packages with integrated systems for power distribution and controls tailored to specific rigs.
  • Conducts installation and commissioning of various oilfield equipment for DC/AC rigs.
  • Provides support for rigging up, commissioning, FAT, endurance tests, as required.
  • Creates test fixture, test setup, and test equipment for engineering, manufacturing, sustaining, and field operation from component level to system level
  • Performs hands-on tests, completes reports, and does results analysis promptly
  • Experience with VFD architecture, Inductive / Resistive loads, MCCs, Switchgear / Transformer sizing, Relay Logic, Generator Control hardware, SCR Drives, Electrical System Grounding and Bonding techniques

Electrical Manager to oversee the installation of a 380 KV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS). He /She shall have extensive experience in high-voltage substation projects, ensuring all activities meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

What will you do?

  • Lead and manage the entire lifecycle of the substation Site, during installation and commissioning.
  • Technical Oversight:Supervise the installation of electrical equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and control systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry/ Client standards.
  • Quality Assurance:Conduct regular inspections and tests to ensure the quality and reliability of installations. Address any issues promptly to maintain project integrity.
  • Safety Compliance:Implement and enforce strict Linxon and Client safety protocols to protect personnel and equipment. Ensure all activities comply with relevant safety regulations and standards.
  • Coordination:Collaborate with design engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution. Facilitate effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Documentation:Maintain comprehensive records of installation activities, test results, and project progress. Prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory bodies.
  • Training and Supervision:Provide guidance and training to installation teams, ensuring they are well-equipped to perform their tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Commissioning:Oversee the commissioning process, including testing and validation of all systems to ensure they are fully operational and meet performance criteria.

Experience, Education And Other Skills Required

  • Master or bachelor’s degree in an electrical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Project Management Certification, or a PMP certification is not mandatory but preferred.
  • 10 Years experience in EHV 380 KV GIS Substations projects, including Civil Construction.
  • Experience With the major Clients in KSA SEC , ARAMCO, and Royal Commission
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, substation components, and industry standards.
  • Experience in risk mitigation & opportunity management.
  • Proven track record of management of large-scale, multimillion-SAR projects
  • C1 or C2 permit holder is a plus
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in electrical installations
  • This position requires working on-site at the substation location, with occasional travel to project meetings and stakeholder consultations.
  • The role involves exposure to high-voltage equipment and requires adherence to strict safety protocols.
