- Complies with all Hospital standards and policies pertaining to acceptance, eligibility, admission, processes, consultation, daily patient care, outpatient practices and patient discharge as applicable.
- Assess patients’ diseases or conditions to determine appropriate therapeutic modalities/procedures. Initiates investigations and ensures findings are recorded.
- Ensures appropriate patient preparation for procedures/surgery and performs procedures/surgery as indicated in the signed clinical privilege form.

- Research Responsibilities
- Leads and promotes clinical basic and translational research and publication of papers in accordance with Research and Advisory Council Policy in order to advance knowledge, improve the quality of post graduate education and contribute to the national and international recognition of the Hospital.
- Administrative Responsibilities
- Develops the department’s Strategic Plan, Goals and Objectives in conformance with the overall strategic plan of Medical & Clinical Affairs. Provides quarterly reports on the progress made by the department on the Goals and Objectives.
- Ensures that patient care and clinical services rendered by the department are in accordance with the appropriate quality standards. Promotes the implementation of Quality Improvement Programs in the Department.
- Leads the initiative in maximizing the utilization of all resources efficiently within the department and coordinates the same across the Hospital.
- Ensures that patient care is provided in conformance with the Patients’ Bill of Rights by the department and its staff.

- Establishes systems and processes for assignment, evaluation and renewal of clinical privileges for the department staff and makes recommendations on the same. Monitors adherence of staff members to assigned clinical privileges and recommends immediate modification of clinical privileges to ensure patient safety, whenever is necessary.
- Enforces and monitors the adherence of all members in the department to the Medical Staff bylaws and rules and regulations and Hospital’s policies and procedures.

Education:
Graduation from a medical school in good standing, completion of required period of
postgraduate training in a specialty and/or subspecialty, with Saudi/American Board or
Canadian/UK certification, or equivalent as outlined by the Medical Staff Credentialing
Committee.
Experience Required:
Ten (10) years of clinical experience in a subspecialty including four (4) years in an admin
capacity, plus post-training experience is required.

Job Description
**Education and Licensure**:
**Mandatory**
- MBBS degree from a recognized medical school.
- Saudi Board, Arab Board, American Board or Canadian in related specialty or its equivalent internationally recognized high medical qualifications is essential requirement that is accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
- A subspecialty degree/Fellowship Certification at least 2-years program of Pediatrics Emergency Medicine or its equivalent internationally recognized high medical qualifications is essential requirement that is accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
- A valid license as Consultant to practice his specialty in the country of origin and from Saudi Commission for Healthcare Specialties.
- Current valid certification of Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtaining these within 6 months of commencement of employment.
**Preferred**:
- Membership in the Emergency Department Board and participate in any other hospital committee.
**Professional Experience**:
**Mandatory**
- Minimum of (3) three years of professional experience in the practice of the specialty after obtaining the high medical degree.
**Preferred**:
- Preferably with in a managerial level and with teaching experience in the medical field.
**Specialized Knowledge & Skills**:
- Fluent in written and spoken English, fluency in Arabic would be of advantage.
- Good general health, able to work extended hours under stress, isolation and at high altitudes, mobility, near visual acuity and no uncorrected audiological problems.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Teaching: To demonstrate skills required for educational training to medical students, professions.
- Research: To demonstrate a proven ability and track record of engagement in research relating to the specialty.
