Job Description

The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient implementation of fund’s and DPM’s investment portfolio strategies and guidelines across Saudi equity market.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct portfolio management activities, including security selection, position sizing, and ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Determine required rebalancing actions subject to established guidelines and specific asset allocation changes.
  • Conduct detailed financial and sector analysis based on buy‑side research team’s recommendations in order to identify attractive investment opportunities.
  • Analyze and assess relevant macro and micro situations and projections on different levels.
  • Prepare and present performance reviews, market updates, and investment rationales to internal committees and external clients.
  • Assist in trade execution while accommodating for subscriptions and redemptions cash requirements.
  • Maintain strong compliance with CMA regulations, fund terms & conditions, and internal policies.
  • Support sales team with relevant data and analysis and assist in creating materials used in new business pitches and client reviews including funds fact sheet.
  • Assist in overlooking the general workflow within the Asset Management Department.
Skills and Competencies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Proficient in Bloomberg.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic.
  • Excellent communication and report‑writing skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or progress towards completing the CFA charter is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in portfolio management, buy‑side equity research, or investment analysis.

Your Role:

Overview

The Portfolio Manager role focuses on deal screening/analysis, financial modeling, company valuation (multiples/DCF), transaction execution, portfolio management, IC/board material preparation, and strategic contribution toward the group’s overall strategy. The position supports the CIO in managing the group’s investment strategy and long-term objectives, and coordinates with external consultants for due diligence as required.

Responsibilities
  • Screen and evaluate investment opportunities; lead financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence process management.
  • Support the CIO in managing the group’s long-term and short-term investment strategy by analyzing historical performance, portfolio company strategy, return metrics, and industry dynamics; help develop and update long-term investment objectives.
  • Evaluate and prioritize a pipeline of new investment opportunities.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and service providers for financial, technical, or commercial due diligence as required; conduct market research, financial analysis, modelling, and forecasting.
  • Monitor portfolio progress toward group investment goals and report deviations and value-creation initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the finance department to provide an investment income forecast on a quarterly basis and update forecasts based on actual results.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned by the CIO.
General Managerial Duties

    Role/Department:

    Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) is a trillion dollar investment management firm entrusted by investors around the globe to help them navigate changing market environments, so they can confidently realise their long-term objectives.

    Based in Saudi Arabia, this Quantitative Active Equity Portfolio Manager will support global Investment Teams in the day to day efforts related to investment analysis.

    The role will further include but not limited to day-to-day portfolio analysis, actively participate in trading discussions, evaluation of the risk and positioning of strategies, interaction with partners in Operations and supporting the distribution process.

    The role reports to the Head of Quantitative Portfolio Management and works in concert with global teams and specialists to support the NTAM investment process.

    The key responsibilities of the role include :

    • Analyse day-to-day strategies/portfolios to meet client objectives within specified guidelines, regulatory frame-work and corporate policies.
    • Communicates with internal Investment Teams as needed and makes recommendations on required changes by the business on more complex investment matters.
    • Participate in projects of factor development, model design, portfolio construction, and risk management.
    • Analyze and produce reports on portfolio performance, risk characteristics, and holdings for quarterly (or otherwise) client meetings.
    • Work with support partners in operations and middle office to resolve issues related to exceptions, accounting issues or data discrepancies to ensure portfolio information is accurate.
    • Respond accurately and promptly to client/partner inquiries regarding performance of strategies/ portfolios.
    • Ensure risk and attribution reports are prepared as required.
    • Assist Sales, Strategist, and other partners as needed with presentations and special projects.
    • Collaborate with the Quant Analytics team to build and maintain portfolio tools used to analyse and research quant active investment strategies.
    • Support and enhance our overall Quantitative investment process and platform.
    Knowledge & Skills
    • 7+ years of experience in the investment management industry, with a proven track record in investment analysis at mid-to-large firms.
    • Strong self-starter with critical thinking skills and keen attention to detail.
    • Proficient with financial optimization tools and software (e.g., FactSet, Bloomberg, Barra, Axioma).
    • Knowledge of Sustainable Investing (SI) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) analysis, products, and industry trends.
    • Advanced analytical and computer skills, including programming experience in Oracle, SAS, R, and Python (preferred).
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an analytical field (e.g., mathematics, economics, statistics, computer programming, engineering, or business).
    • 7+ years of experience in investment management and/or quantitative analysis.
    • CFA charter holder preferred.
    • Proven ability to manage, process, and analyse large datasets.
    • Independent worker with strong initiative and project completion skills.
    • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
