Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • The ability to perform clerical duties such as dictation, typing, filing and telephone answering for the Engineering Department.

Main Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Assist in hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, disciplining, and planning activities of maintenance department personnel.
  • Participate in employee performance reviews.
  • Ensure effective preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
  • Plan and implement procedures, systems, and controls for an efficient maintenance department.
  • Supervise personnel in carrying out work schedules and verify quality and performance.
  • Maintain logs on stock movement and tools.
  • Maintain par stocks and distribute items.
  • Ensure timely and accurate logging of sub meter, chemical treatment, and engine room data.
  • Handle purchasing of equipment parts and repairs, including vendor contact, purchase orders, and receiving.
  • Ensure proper execution of work orders and follow-up on logbook items.
  • Develop and update departmental policies and manuals.
  • Monitor meter readings on heat, light, and power daily and review consumption.
  • Compile monthly energy consumption reports.
  • Set up fire safety systems, valve locations, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication and good relations with other hotel departments.
  • Inspect all hotel areas regularly.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel are in uniform and well-groomed.
  • Complete responsibilities timely.
  • Assist in developing energy conservation programs to meet budget targets.
  • Prepare requisitions and liaise with the Director of Engineering.
  • Conduct oneself professionally to reflect hotel standards and encourage staff to do the same.
  • Maintain good relationships with employees, providing instruction and encouragement.
  • Keep work areas clean, neat, and organized.
  • Participate in required meetings.
  • Respond appropriately to hotel emergencies and safety situations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

The Role of the Engineering Technician

As a Engineering Technician, you play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems within a building. Your expertise enables you to execute preventative maintenance tasks, carry out repairs when necessary, and provide valuable recommendations for further repairs or improvements.

Your responsibilities extend beyond just the systems - you are also responsible for maintaining all building components and ensuring the functionality of furniture, fixtures, and equipment. By diligently performing your duties, you contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of the facility.

In situations where expertise beyond your scope is required, you utilize your knowledge to assess if an outside contractor is needed. This ensures that specialized tasks are handled by professionals who can efficiently address complex issues.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a General Maintenance in a luxury, fast-paced environment.
  • Requires attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Diploma or degree in relevant field is a plus.
  • Good command of the English language
