AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced and proactive Vertical Transportation Engineering Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Design Consultant's work on vertical transportation systems, including lifts, escalators, and travelators, within the city.
• Provide technical guidance to Design Consultants through regular review meetings and formal requests for information.
• Act as the single point of contact for technical issues between the Design Consultant and NEOM's wider functions, sectors, and departments.
• Lead design reviews of technical design deliverables, ensuring alignment with THE LINE Codes, Standards, Guidelines, and Requirements.
• Ensure consistency in design solutions across THE LINE.
• Identify key risks and document them in the Risk Register, following through with mitigation strategies.
• Escalate high-risk design issues to the relevant Subject Matter Expert (SME).
• Drive innovation and best practices in design delivery by appointed consultants.
• Integrate considerations for innovation, sustainability, and operations and maintenance into the design process.

Requirements

• Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field of study, or equivalent.
• Chartered Membership of a recognized professional institution/organization or Professional Engineer status is preferred.
• Minimum of 20 years of professional experience, with a significant portion in the required expertise discipline.
  • Exposure to the Middle East is advantageous.
• Strong international presence in the vertical transportation discipline.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Codes, Standards, and Guidelines related to vertical transportation in high-rise buildings.
• Deep understanding of sustainability principles and their integration into design.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical directions effectively.
  • Strong social, networking, and presentation skills are essential.

**Project Description**:
“Bechtel is currently bidding for The New Murabba Project Infrastructure” which will be built around the concept of sustainability, featuring green areas and walking and cycling paths that will enhance the quality of life by promoting healthy, active lifestyles and community activities. It will also feature an iconic museum, a technology and design university, a multipurpose immersive theater, and more than 80 entertainment and culture venues.

The project will be situated at the intersection of King Salman and King Khalid roads to the North West of Riyadh, over an area of 19 square kilometers, to accommodate hundreds of thousands of residents. The project will offer more than 25 million sqm of floor area, featuring more than 104,000 residential units, 9,000 hotel rooms, and more than 980,000 sqm of retail space, as well as 1.4 million sqm of office space, 620,000 sqm of leisure assets, and 1.8 million sqm of space dedicated to community facilities.

The New Murabba project will offer a unique living, working and entertainment experience within a 15-minute walking radius and will have its own internal transport system. It will be approximately 20-minutes' drive from the airport.

**Job Overview**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct, plan, schedule and coordinate initial and detailed phases of transportation projects.
- Prepare conceptual studies, designs, reports, proposals, value engineering studies or alternate technical concepts (ATCs) in accordance with Bechtel Engineering Procedures
- Coordinate design development with other departments which may include construction, estimating, project controls, procurement, and contracts management
- Monitor and ensure compliance with project budgets, schedules, quantities and quality requirements
- Provide technical direction and assign work to subordinate engineers, designers, and drafters who assist on specific assignments
- Review and check work of subordinate engineers
- Coordinate and integrate design work between engineering disciplines and other design entities
- Interface with clients and stakeholders to make presentations, define project requirements, and obtain contractual and statutory approvals
- Assist in on-the-job-training of assigned personnel and provide input for their performance evaluations.
- Prepare procurement and subcontract requisition documents and perform associated technical bid evaluations
- Prepare and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders
- Resolve technical issues with construction and travel to the field to assist as required
- Support the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
- Make business trips, or potentially relocate, to construction site, project office or client location as required

**Job Knowledge**:

- Has broad working knowledge of precedents in the road and highway transportation industry and all relevant disciplines, including highway and interchange geometrics, grading, drainage, signing and marking, structures, signals, traffic engineering, ITS and utilities.
- Is fluent in applicable codes governing roadway transportation design including AASHTO
- Has extensive experience in performing and managing self-perform road and highway design work
- Has experience with engineering work planning, scheduling and cost estimating,
- Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, design of engineered systems, and engineering and calculations.
- Understanding of engineering planning and control methods
- Demonstrated Value Engineering experience
