Job Description

1.0 Job Purpose:

Kennel Technicians must be dedicated to providing excellent care for the pets at Petland by following Petland systems and procedures to ensure the pets' four basic needs are met.

2.0 Job Responsibilities:

· provide Care to Pets Which involve many different elements, including checking on an animal's physical and emotional comfort while they are in the boarding kennel, feeding animals at set times, and reporting any changes in mood or behavior.

· Walk and Socialize Sick Dogs and Cats, ensure that socializing within these shared areas don't injure one another or play too roughly.

· Groom Animals while they are boarded within the facility according to the veterinary's requests. This can include cutting nails, bathing animals, and brushing their coats.

· Clean and Maintain Boarding Facilities, ensure that facilities, including socialization areas and animal cages, are clean and well maintained. This can include cleaning and sterilizing cages between pets, sweeping and vacuuming hair in examination rooms and common areas and cleaning up animal waste in the facility. The kennel assistant needs to follow proper cleaning procedures to limit the spread of infection and ensure that facilities are clean, safe, and comfortable.

· Hospital Cleanliness Responsibilities -vacuuming; mopping; changing garbage; dusting; following daily, weekly and monthly task lists; cleaning surgery table and trays; cleaning and maintaining all sinks; maintaining litter boxes and hospital cats; laundry; kennel cleaning; proper dilutions for cleaning solutions; cleaning windows and doors; replenishing supplies (including paper towels, garbage bags, air fresheners); knowledge of patient isolation protocols; and overall maintenance (both inside and outside the hospital) of the sights, smells and sounds of the hospital.

§ Emergency Situations: During an emergency situation, the kennel assistant's job is to help the veterinary assistant in being the "Fetch" person (this may include handing supplies to technicians as the assistant prepares them) and in cleaning up once emergency has passed. This requires a strong knowledge of where important supplies are located throughout the hospital, as well as the ability to respond calmly and quickly, especially with clients.

3.0 Job requirements:

§ Must have strong animal sensitivity.

§ Must have the ability to read and write English and follow oral and written instructions.

§ Must be able to lift 25 lbs. comfortably and repetitively

§ Must be able to perform strenuous, repetitive tasks.

§ Must have the flexibility and stamina to work retail hours.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ﷼3,500.00 per month
