Purpose of Job

They undertake complex operational activities including conducting regular seminars and Environment awareness sessions to all related ZATCA’s stakeholders, constantly developing Environment, risk management programs and systems to stay updated with the latest trends and standards.
Job Responsibilities- Conduct research and benchmark studies to identify latest Environment best practices and market trends to upgrade ZATCA’s Environment standards and systems
- Develop ZATCA’s Environment guidelines, standards, policies and procedures to guide the Environment strategy development process while using lates best-practices
- Identify required resources and capabilities to assess the needs to provide support in vendors/service providers selection
- Assess vendors and external service providers performance to ensure alignment with required activities and set standards
- Conduct internal assessment to identify required Environment training programs for all ZATCA’s employees
- Develop Environment seminars, awareness sessions, training programs tailored for every employee category to educate ZATCA’s personnel about Environment and prevent potential incidents
- Follow-up on training program execution to ensure that all training material is given within scheduled period
- Monitor ZATCA’s employee competencies level post training to evaluate program efficiency and make corrective improvement actions if needed
- Conduct field studies across ZATCA’s facilities to determine, assess and evaluate incidents/accidents, potential risk, and possible hazards to develop a risk management/prevention plan
- Develop noise, wildlife, chemical spillage, waste management inspection and control program to ensure that all Environment standards and regulations are applied
- Initiate and manage safety risk management improvement projects to constantly update risk management procedures and align with best-practices and latest trends
- Follow all relevant policies, processes and standard operating procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner

The West Asia Office delivers advisory services and capacity building support to countries to achieve environment and sustainable development objectives. This consultancy is established at the West Asia Office within the framework of the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between UNEP and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager in UNEP West Asia Office and in coordination with the respective department in the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the expert will carry-out, inter alia, the following duties & responsibilities:
1. Development of national environmental risk assessment strategy, action-plans, and environmental risk registry for different vulnerable ecosystems in line with priorities and targets of the national environmental sustainability strategy.
2. Establish coordination mechanisms for early warning about environmental emergencies amongst the Ministry and different local, regional, and international stakeholders and relevant partners.
3. Draft, consult and finalize technical working manual for standard operating procedures (SOPs) for building risk scenarios and offer standard response protocols for each type of risk.
4. Develop for each ecosystem a coordination protocol amongst different related entities and stakeholders for the prevention, mitigation and response to emergencies and disasters based on the respective integrated disaster risk management structure.
