**The opportunity**
As part of our regional services team you will assist in looking after service delivery, co-ordination, issue resolution, and contract management of projects where you will be expected to draft tax advisory memos and reports to address client concerns.
**Your key responsibilities**
The focus will be on assisting the team in business advisory related service delivery. You will prepare tax research memos and tax advisory reports. Assist with local State tax return preparation and therefore understand tax adjustments and tax provisioning work. Attend meetings with the local Tax Authority on client related tax matters. Build strong internal relationships and across other services. Establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships with clients to help ensure that the services delivered to clients by our offices are of the highest standards and are done on a timely basis.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of client engagements, monitor progress and deliverables, put in place the necessary standardized processes, anticipate and identify risks, escalate issues as appropriate and drive performance-improvement solutions.
You will support the team in marketing and business development initiatives to grow our BTA client base in the region and help to create positive culture, coach and counsel junior team members to help them develop professionally and personally.
**Skills and attributes for success**
If you are an energetic and motivated professional with strong analytical and problem
- solving skills, you will get the experience to develop within the Tax practice and be exposed to major clients and projects throughout the Middle East. Understand concepts of taxation (primarily for inbound activity) and be able to interpret tax law. **To qualify for the role you must have**
- A degree in a relevant field (Accountancy/ Commerce/ Law)
- 2-3 years of relevant big-4 experience with focus and knowledge of tax advisory services

- Tax professional qualification (CTA, ADIT)

The Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a regional tax policy resident advisor position in the IMF's Regional Office in Riyadh (ROR); the advisor will be located in Riyadh. The appointment will be for two years, with the possibility of an extension if performance is assessed positively, and there is continued funding and need for capacity development support in the field.
The successful candidate will support the tax policy activities of FAD in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, including the following: deepening engagement with member countries on their tax policy priorities; participating in FAD's capacity development (CD) activities in the GCC; leading the organization of cutting-edge topical issues on taxation for the benefit of the GCC region; supporting the design and delivery of ROR work program on tax policy issues; coordinating with other stakeholders, as needed, and IMF headquarters. The resident advisor will work closely with the director of the ROR and in close coordination with FAD.
Applicants should have at least four years of relevant professional experience, and a proven track record in conducting analytical and advisory work in tax policy, especially for value-added and excise taxes, corporate income taxes, and policy monitoring and evaluation, as well as substantial experience managing capacity development projects. Preference will be given to applicants with at least 10 years of practical experience in a senior advisory position within a ministry of finance or related institution, and/or in the delivery of CD. They should also have: a university degree or equivalent qualification (at least at master's level) in economics or tax law; strong oral and written communication skills; effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team; ability to maintain cooperative relations with national authorities in the GCC; ability and maturity in handling sensitive issues with discretion. Knowledge and ability to work in Arabic is desirable.
