Learn more about our career opportunities at: is seeking a proactive and qualified Environmental & Sustainability Engineer to join its project supervision team on a Roads and Infrastructure Project. The role will focus on ensuring environmental compliance, implementing sustainability measures, and supporting the contractor’s environmental management plans in alignment with Ashghal's environmental guidelines, Qatar Construction Standards (QCS), and applicable local authority requirements.
The candidate should bring a minimum of 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in infrastructure projects with a focus on environmental management and sustainability practices in Qatar.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the contractor’s implementation of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and ensure compliance with all environmental permits and conditions.
- Support the integration of sustainability best practices, including material reuse, energy-efficient operations, and low-impact construction methods.
- Conduct environmental audits, inspections, and site assessments to ensure mitigation measures are in place (e.g., dust suppression, noise control, waste segregation).
- Prepare and submit regular environmental and sustainability compliance reports as per Ashghal’s KPIs and reporting framework.
- Review and approve contractor submissions related to environmental protection, spill prevention, erosion control, and landscape management.
- Liaise with MME, Ashghal's Environmental Department, and other local authorities for necessary approvals, inspections, and updates.
- Promote awareness among site staff and subcontractors regarding environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and resource optimization.
- Investigate environmental incidents, non-conformities, and complaints; develop and track corrective actions.
- Ensure alignment of project activities with Ashghal’s Corporate Sustainability Framework and ISO 14001 principles.
- Support handover documentation regarding environmental compliance and sustainability contributions.
- In depth knowledge about GORD/GSAS certification system.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or Civil/mechanical Engineering (with specialization).
- Minimum 10 years total experience, with at least 5 years in infrastructure/construction projects in an environmental role.
- GORD/GSAS certified profession + ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, LEED GA/AP or equivalent (preferred).
- Minium five years’ experience in Qatar.
- GCC infrastructure projects.
- Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
- Knowledge of Ashghal standards, road material specs, QA/QC processes, and stakeholder coordination.
- Familiar with document management systems (Ashghal DCS), MS Office, AutoCAD (viewing), and site-related software.
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation in Qatar and GCC.
- Practical knowledge of sustainability frameworks (LEED, GSAS, etc.).
- Expertise in site-based environmental monitoring and mitigation strategies.

**Data Management & ESG Reporting:**
+ Design and manage a performance monitoring framework to track key environmental and sustainability KPIs in alignment with KSA requirements and the client's Sustainability Framework.
+ Lead the collection, validation, and aggregation of sustainability data for annual ESG reports, ensuring alignment with global standards such as GRI, SASB, and TCFD.
+ Support the client's submissions for sustainability certifications and ratings, such as LEED , Mostadam ,SITE and Green Flag.
**Stakeholder Engagement:**
+ Act as the primary liaison with government regulators on environmental matters during operations.

**Technical Support & Analysis:**
+ Oversee energy, water, and waste management audits to identify inefficiencies in vendor facilities and park infrastructure.
+ Conduct technical assessments such as energy modeling reviews, carbon footprint calculations, and water balance analysis.
+ Provide input into agreements with vendors for guaranteed energy and water savings.
+ Coordinate studies or pilots for innovative solutions to improve sustainability performance.
**What Required Skills You'll Bring:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
+ Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental management or sustainability, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
+ Experience managing ESG programs, sustainability reporting, and environmental compliance in large-scale infrastructure or urban development projects.
+ Strong knowledge of Saudi environmental regulations and Vision 2030 sustainability objectives.
