Key Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY

Instrument Maintenance Technician shall be responsible for maintenance of 2.97 GW dc solar PV farm in NEOM region. The main objective is to ensure every maintenance activity has been performed with recommended safety, quality & standard which eventually reduces the average downtime of equipment & enhances the performance & lifecycle of the asset.

NATURE & SCOPE

The main functions of this position are:

  • Maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and instruments in compliance with OEM recommendations and approved schematics & SMPs.
  • Ensure the recommended safety compliance has been considered during every maintenance.
  • Actively participate in plant commissioning activities & safety compliance workshops.
  • Propose continuous improvement suggestions to keep elevating & enabling the best plant O&M practices.
  • Timely escalation of system issues & information to relevant teams or departments as per communication matrix.
  • Participate in EPC contractor site installation, testing, and commissioning activities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in inspections, installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of Solar plant equipment.
  • Monitor, maintain & restore generating stations i.e., Inverters within the minimum time frame by performing necessary troubleshooting methods in line with OEM recommendations.
  • Adhere to optimum response time towards corrective action notifications raised by SCADA team.
  • Develop plant maintenance procedures and work instructions based on OEM manuals, standard industry practices.
  • Identify operational and strategic spares for the smooth and reliable operation of the plant.
  • Exposure to EPC construction activities and participate/witness installation/testing and commissioning stages of the project.
  • Develop the technical scope of work for various contractors or service providers.
  • Maintain maintenance quality (Corrective & Preventive) in line with OEM guidelines & best industrial practices.
  • Perform operation, simulation checks & verification after every maintenance to ensure equipment operational healthiness.
  • Adhere to required quality housekeeping during preventive or corrective maintenance activities.
  • Perform every Operation & Maintenance activity with approved Permit to Work (PTW) & associated PTWs (if required).
  • Maintain documentation and record keeping of calibration, testing, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Perform routine checks, calibration, and functional testing of process instruments and devices.
  • Conduct Predictive Maintenance & Conditioning Monitoring activities to reduce breakdown & unavailability events.
  • Ensure effective shift handover with complete details & accuracy.
  • Be aware of isolation & de-isolation procedures, LOTO procedure & required isolation points of every equipment.
  • Ensure contractors deliver required maintenance deliverables with quality as per the scope of work under maintenance agreements.
  • Respond on time for any emergency call outs requirements.
  • Verify quality maintenance work executed by subcontractors in line with OEM recommendations & procedures.
  • Ensure that required safety procedures are being followed by contractors during maintenance activities.
  • Provide necessary support to subcontractor teams in a timely manner.
  • Provide improvement suggestions to enhance operation maintenance quality, feasibility, reliability, reducing equipment downtime & unavailability.
  • Calibrate instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Basic understanding of electronic & pneumatic systems, and knowledge to work with various instruments such as gauges, transmitters, transducers, indicators, recorders, and controllers.

Spare Part & Resource Management:

  • Ensure that spare part storage conditions meet OEM recommendations.
  • Communicate information about consumable/spare parts running out of stock to shift in charge in time.

Reporting Matrix & Documentation:

  • Responsible for ensuring that all maintenance records are duly signed & updated in both soft & hard copy.
  • Responsible for subcontractor service & test reports, third-party intervention reports being signed & saved in both soft & hard copy.

Tools & Equipment Inspections:

  • Perform regular inspections of tools & equipment as per schedule regarding working condition, calibration, suitability, etc.
  • Ensure that tools are selected & utilized suitably as per maintenance activity.
  • Support & assist other departments as required.
  • Maintain close interaction with site operation & maintenance teams to avoid communication gaps & delays in equipment restoration.

HSSE:

  • Ensure that every site activity is executed with approved procedures (SOPs), WMSRA, Risk Assessment (RA), checklists (if needed) or any other supporting documents if recommended.
  • Ensure the O&M team & subcontractors/suppliers obtain PTW for each job and monitor them onsite for HSE compliance mitigations.
  • Participate/Assist in reviewing/revising task risk assessments (TRA) regularly.
  • Participate actively in emergency response plans as per approved ERP.
  • Support in executing emergency response drills.
  • Assist in HSE incident/accident investigations as needed.
  • Ensure PTWs for all activities are issued as per approved WMSRA/PTW/LOTO system.
  • Ensure isolations/de-isolations and LOTO applications are applied as per SLD/switching sequence.
  • Ensure specific PPE are available & properly worn/used for all electrical work activities.

SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Operating System (MS Office).
  • Knowledge of Electric/Electronic components and fundamental knowledge of Mechanical components.
  • Hands-on experience in Operation & Maintenance of Power Plants, preferably Solar Power Plants or renewable industry.
  • Able to work on rotating shifts, call out, weekends, and overtime (if required).
  • Able to work in various weather and temperature conditions including extreme heat, humidity, dust, and cold.
  • Knowledge of Solar Inverter Systems, Relay & Control Protection Panels, Solar Tracking Systems & Substation Operation & Maintenance preferably HV/MV GIS substations.
  • Awareness of Solar Plant Electrical Protection Systems.
  • Advanced analytical, technical skills and knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as instrumentation & electrical testing equipment.
  • Deliverables on Time & Adaptability: Be enthusiastic & energetic to provide required deliverables within the timeframe with quality standards.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • A high school diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical, Instrument or Electromechanical Engineering with 5 years of maintenance experience in a solar plant capacity greater than or equal to 100MW.
