Your Opportunity
We are currently bidding for a prestigious new project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and we are looking for a Shift Supervisor who will plan, manage and supervise container terminal operations, ensuring maximum productivity through optimal utilisation of resources, while adhering to quality & safety standards.

The purpose of the project under this contract is assist Site Manager in defining the overall yard strategy, and ensure compliance with the same while assisting in defining and planning yard activities/ procedures on the lines of terminal structure, yard configuration, nature of operations, container types, and type of equipment.

The Ministry is in the process of developing and executing a transformation program. This program involves transitioning from the management of operations and maintenance contracts to the management of contracts related to assets and facilities. The Ministry’ primary objective is to achieve maximum value and benefit for the life cycle of assets and facilities within their estate.

Key Accountabilities
Assist in defining Yard Traffic Rules/ Yard Path Matrix to optimize the productivity of yard equipment and throughput capacity of the yard
Understand quay design and its impact on operational efficiency
Assist in improving quay utilization by analysing berth occupancy, vessel waiting time and related stowage planning factors
Ensure yard operations are managed in accordance with terminal policies and procedures, legislative policy, and customer requirements
Ensure yard planning is effectively managed to facilitate movement of containers
Stacking principles are followed
Corrective measures to avoid potential clashes in the yard
Optimal allocation of equipment - e.g. RTGs, reach stackers, forklifts, Empty Container Handlers (ECHs) & Straddle Carriers (until they are phased out)
Housekeeping of containers to minimize the loading time
Movements to Examination area and Delivery areas
Explain implications of container movement in the yard - cost, time and convenience
Assist in defining norms for equipment allocation to ensure optimal utilization of yard equipment

Specific Requirements
Minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience in container planning or operations
4 to 5 years’ experience in supervisory role in container planning operations
Experience in managing container terminal operating system (NAVIS, Cosmos, etc.)
Prior experience in managing and building teams

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of shift activities, including staff attendance, guest interactions, and any incidents or issues that occur.
  • Prepare shift reports for the Attractions Manager, highlighting key operational outcomes, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure that all documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner

Guest Experience:

  • Ensure all guests receive high-quality service, creating a positive and memorable experience during their visit.
  • Address guest inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally, resolving any issues to maintain guest satisfaction.
  • Lead by example to promote a culture of guest service excellence, encouraging staff to exceed expectations and deliver exceptional service.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE -

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in hospitality or management are a plus.

Professional Certifications:

Certification in Hospitality Management or a related field is a plus.

Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a guest-facing environment, preferably in the entertainment or hospitality industry.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a team and handle multiple operational tasks simultaneously.
  • A proven track record of delivering excellent guest service and managing guest interactions effectively.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work independently, perform manual handling tasks, lift up to 5kg, stand for extended periods, bend, reach, push/pull up to 10kg, with full mobility and no visual or auditory impediments.

Job Description

Assist the Shift Charge Engineer and ensure that activities assigned to him are performed in accordance with approved operating work plans, quality standards, time schedules, and other operating requirements.

Responsible for safe start up/shut down of the plant as per the Standard Operating Procedures.

**1**

Under the direct supervision of the Shift Charge Engineer, ensure that all operations are performed in accordance with established plans and schedules.

**2**

Comply with safety rules and regulations. Be fully aware of the safety hazards in the plant.

Supervise, administer and evaluate all operators.

**3**

Supervise the work of plant operators and ensure that is executed in accordance with established procedures, Provide directions to the operators to run the plant safely and efficiently.

**4**

Have a good understanding of the process. Take corrective actions during a state of emergency.

**5**

Upon authorization of engineer in charge, issue work permits for maintenance section involved.

Have a complete understanding of the permit to work system applied to the plant. Issue and cancel permits to work per authorization. Normalize the equipment after release and perform necessary testing to check the equipment or system after maintenance.

**6**

Supervise all pre start checks, equipment change over, protection and interlock tests etc.

Coordinate activities involving plant chemistry with the lab.

**7**

Assist in the training and familiarization of new personnel in the shift.

Plan and provide good housekeeping.

**8**

Identify the competency gap for their subordinate personnel and implement necessary actions.

**9**

Carry out annual performance evaluation of reporting employees

**11**

Provide on-the-job training to new employees and evaluate their OJT Performance

**12**

Identification and control of hazards in assigned work area

**13**

Ensure aspects identified are monitored and operational controls are followed

**14**

Reporting of emergencies and incidents and near misses

**15**

Effective resource utilisation

**16**

Perform other duties as assigned
