Position Overview
As a Hardware Engineer (Drone) of Dunes Aero, you'll work across various stages of the drone hardware development lifecycle. From electric systems and electronics, integrating sensors, power systems, flight controllers, performing lab and flight testing, to ensuring safety, reliability, and performance. You'll collaborate closely with our software team and also be in charge of drone software testing and drone operations, and other teams to build reliable, high-performance UAVs that align with Dunes Aero's vision of localized drone innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Research, assemble, and test drone hardware systems
Support electrical and electronic design
Work with embedded systems and communication devices.
Conduct lab and field testing for performance validation, endurance, and flight stability.
Troubleshoot and optimize drone systems for reliability, efficiency, and flight safety.
Collaborate with other departments for integrated development.
Research and evaluate new drone components, materials, and emerging aerospace technologies.
Test all new software products.
conduct testing drone operations.
Technical documentation — test reports, and performance data.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, or any other relevant major.
Other majors with strong experience in drones are welcome.
0–2 years of experience (fresh graduates with relevant projects or internships are encouraged to apply).
Familiarity with drone hardware systems, or robotics projects.
Basic understanding of circuit design, embedded systems, and power management.
Hands-on experience in assembly, soldering, or prototyping is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to self learn.
Ability to work on-site and off-site in outdoor environments during flight testing.
Have good soft skills in internal and external communication, company representation, documentation and cross majors team work.
Strong multitasking and adaptability skills.

Role Description

The Doors Hardware Engineer will be responsible for the development and design of hardware systems, including circuit design and computer hardware. Daily tasks include the creation of electronics hardware designs, troubleshooting, and ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines.
Follow up, review and confirm Hardware material datasheets, samples, client approvals with Door/HW package subcontractor as main contractor package representative.
Discuss and support package manager with engineering requirements prior to construction start, and attend meetings with consultants, and other subcontractors in his presence for package matters.
Coordinate with the MEP team for LV systems and other electrical system types linking to Door/HW package contractor and make sure accurate submissions and proper coordination is done for these items prior to submission and during installation phase.
Liaising and coordinating to provide spaces and locations for project hardware storage on site based on requirements of Door/HW subcontractor/making sure necessary shipments are brought to site by Door/HW package subcontractor as per their base line program and installed accurately on site.
Ensuring that Door/HW package contractor aligns with their E1 & E2 log submissions and aligns with project program.
Ensure that proper and accurate door and hardware schedule is submitted by the door/HW subcontractor, and that respective door shop drawings have correct hardware placed on them and shop drawings are aligned accordingly with contract requirements.
Providing reports for installation of doors and their respective HW for the project package during construction.
Post-engineering phase to follow up on site with respective door package subcontractor for installation and coordination on site with respective package manager and site staff.
Reporting to package manager for general requirements related to door/hardware package.

Handle special shipping requirements such as temperature-controlled or shock-protected packaging.
Special Certifications & Regulatory Approvals:
Obtain and maintain relevant permits, licenses, and certifications to import/export IT server hardware into Saudi Arabia and UAE.
Coordinate with government agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure full compliance.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Collaborate with global logistics teams, service operations, and customers to ensure timely delivery and installation.
Act as the primary point of contact for all import/export matters in the region.
Risk & Issue Management:
Proactively address shipment delays, customs holds, and compliance issues.
- Maintain contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted hardware supply.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or import/export management, preferably in IT or server hardware.
- Proven experience as IOR/EOR in the Middle East, with a strong understanding of Saudi Arabia and UAE import/export laws.
- Demonstrated ability to manage depot operations and inventory control.
- Familiarity with freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and shipping documentation.
- Experience obtaining special licenses and certifications for restricted or high-tech equipment.
- Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Saudi Arabian ZATCA customs system and UAE's Dubai Trade/DP World portals.
- Experience in handling sensitive IT hardware shipments with compliance to HS codes and dual-use regulations.
- Certification in International Trade Compliance, Logistics Management, or related fields.
