Job Description

Technical and Safety Management Engineer Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily site inspections to identify unsafe conditions (electrical, fire, chemical, trip/slip/fall hazards).
  • Monitor and enforce use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in compliance with NFPA 70E and OSHA standards.
  • Check and maintain site grounding systems for electrical safety.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) plans, Emergency Response Plans (ERP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform hazard recognition and hazard hunts on a daily and monthly basis.
  • Document and recommend corrective actions to eliminate unsafe conditions.
  • Verify fire detection, gas detection, and explosion-prevention systems are operational.
Safety Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain daily safety inspection reports.
  • Draft and update safety procedures for operations, maintenance, and emergency response.
  • Document and file Safety Meeting Minutes (daily toolbox talks & monthly safety meetings).
  • Maintain records of PPE distribution, inspections, and compliance checks.
  • Lead incident reporting and investigations, including root cause analysis.
  • Prepare corrective and preventive action (CAPA) reports.
  • Report all incidents in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support emergency shutdown procedures and coordinate with Grid Control Center during critical events.
  • Act as liaison with local emergency responders and regulatory authorities.
Training & Culture
  • Provide safety induction training for all new site personnel.
  • Deliver refresher courses on electrical safety, fire prevention, and hazard awareness.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across all departments.
Required Qualifications
  • Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of safety experience in energy, power plant, or industrial projects.
  • Experience with Saudi Electric Company (SEC) projects is considered a plus.
Required Certifications
  • NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction Safety Certification.
  • NFPA 70E Training (Electrical Safety in the Workplace).
  • First Aid & CPR Certification.

Overview

Amazon is looking for a Workplace, Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator to add to the team. Year-on-year, as we continue to grow, we need to work as smart as we can, to keep all our team members safe, fulfilled, motivated and empowered. We’re seeking a driven EHS Officer to help drive health and safety across our fulfillment center in Riyadh. You will report to the WHS Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Lead site risk assessment for current and new activities.
  • Establish site WHS training matrix. Lead implementation of site specific WHS standards and guidelines.
  • Lead implementation of site WHS objectives and programs.
  • Promote a safe culture among employees by providing daily WHS content to shift briefings.
  • Perform frequent site safety audits to identify non-compliant equipment and/or processes; work with Operations to implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injuries.
  • Attend to incidents and occupational injuries on site.
  • Guide and assist area managers on incident investigations, Gensuite write-ups and communication of lessons learned.
  • Assist Ops team with Gensuite follow-up sheets and CAPA creation. Audit record-keeping practices and ensure Gensuite entries align with global WHS standards and local regulations.
  • Ensure PPE inventory at site and coordinate with procurement for order placement.
  • Lead Weekly Key Safety Requirement (KSR) Audit assignments, monitoring and support.
  • Ensure completion of basic Fire Fighting and First Aid training requirements.
  • Daily Powered Industrial Tool and Trailer Dock Release inspections and communications.
  • Daily Action Tracking System monitoring and support.
  • Participate in site management safety walk, providing insight into unsafe acts and conditions to management.
  • Provide daily updates to Country WHS Manager on objectives progress, incidents, KSR, ATS, network actions, etc.
  • Prepare WHS committee meeting agenda, minutes of meeting (MOM), ATS creation.
  • Daily Permit to Work review and sign-off.
  • Lead on WHS-related procurement and follow-up.
  • Prepare emergency response plans and manage emergency drills; prepare records.
  • Establish and monitor Heat Index; provide support.
  • Provide support to site-specific requests, unplanned events and activities.
  • Conduct daily and weekly WHS audits (e.g., hazard waste room inspection, spill kit inspection, first aid room, etc.).
Qualifications
  • Must have: Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or Engineering/Science bachelor degree.
  • +2 years of experience in OSH field. Good communicator – English.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment and customer focus skills.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
  • Experience leading and managing a team.
  • Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses.
  • Experienced in emergency response and currently holds First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Experience in Worker’s Compensation case management.
  • Analyzing and manipulating data.
  • Passion for safety.
