A Typical Work Day May Include:

  • Completing preventative, predictive, and reactive industrial maintenance throughout the facility

  • Documenting all completed work and the conditions found; utilizing maintenance computer software as necessary

  • Installing, maintaining, testing, evaluating, and repairing various components and systems including heavy mobile equipment, hydraulic systems, 12 & 24V mobile electrical systems, belt conveyors, gear reducers, and bearings

  • Operating standard maintenance tools such as power tools, basic hand tools, pneumatic tools, electric tools, etc.

  • Comprehending mechanical/electrical schematics, blueprints, and/or operation manuals

  • Operating forklifts

  • Understanding and adhering to all safety policies and procedures

  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment

  • Ability to repair equipment in close proximity to explosives

  • Other duties as assigned


What You Will Need:

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)

  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs., kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)

  • Minimum of one year of experience with industrial electrical knowledge and mechanical maintenance trades

  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice

  • Ability and willingness to work underground in a mining environment

  • Must receive a passing score on a Standardized Ramsay Test in order to be selected for an interview


What Will Put You Ahead:

  • Must possess journeyman certificate, a state certificate, or a degree in the field of electrical with experience repairing and troubleshooting electrical systems

  • Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

  • Certified Maintenance Reliability Technician (CMRT) or willing to acquire certification

  • Heavy equipment/industrial maintenance technical diploma from a trade school, or 3 years equivalent experience

  • Predictive Maintenance and/or Precision Maintenance Certifications

  • High school diploma/GED or a minimum of two years equivalent work experience

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining various components and systems such as but not limited to packaging equipment, hydraulic & pneumatic systems, belt or roller conveyors, pumps, gear reducers, or bearings

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Orleans County YMCA has a part time, 20 to 25 hour per week, opening for a Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing the expertise, leadership and resources needed to support cleaning and maintenance of the branch, its operational programs, and planned maintenance activities. The position provides leadership and training to the maintenance and housekeeping teams, and oversees and coordinates facility service vendors as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides overall coordination of facility and property maintenance and cleanliness, including planning and developing preventative maintenance programs for all facility systems.
  • Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems.
  • Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Oversees all contractors that work in the facility and grounds. May request and review bids, and recommend selection of contractors.
  • Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building departments, etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.
  • Provides input for the development of the facility budget, which supports preventative and annual maintenance plans. Monitors expenditures against budget.
  • Advises management on maintenance issues and projects as requested.
  • Ensures that equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
  • Serves as a leader to ensure facility is cleaned properly, projects are completed in a timely manner, and that a weekly and annual maintenance schedule is executed effectively.
  • Supervise and coordinate all maintenance and branch repairs. Surveys the campus multiple times daily, addressing needed repairs for safety and aesthetics, while reporting more in-depth requirements to the Senior Program Director
  • available to work off-hour shifts to accommodate work that must be completed at night, oversee vendors as needed and/or support special events
  • Identifies potential safety hazards, takes necessary steps to reduce risks.
  • Engage members and staff whenever possible, seeking to develop meaningful, positive, cause driven relationships.

  1. Associate's Degree in a related technical field required; a minimum 2 years of industry experience with carpentry and/or facility management activities, is and may substitute for associates degree.
  2. Demonstrable knowledge and experience with maintenance and housekeeping practices.
  3. Self-disciplined, with strong communication skills, well-organized and able to respond appropriately in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas.
  5. CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 60 days of employment.
  6. Child Abuse Prevention and Harassment training required upon hire.
  7. Ability and current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards.
  8. Familiarity with personal computers is helpful.
  9. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit or stand for an extended period of time, climb ladders, walk, shovel snow, plow snow, lift and/or move 50-75 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity.

Job Description

Technicians take care of all machine-specific functions such as configuring the equipment. They need to ensure that the machine works at its full capacity, oversee its functionality, and perform timely quality checks. They should be a self-starter and should be willing to undergo training, if need be, to understand the operations of new equipment.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities
  1. Manage the day-to-day function of manufacturing plant and machinery maintenance support to all our plants.
  2. Responsible for overall management of maintenance program including planning and scheduling.
  3. Responsible for maintaining all plant, machinery, and utility equipment in good running condition round the clock.
  4. Responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance as per schedule to upkeep and ensure all plant and machinery are in running condition.
  5. Work closely with all maintenance staff and with supervisor to achieve proactive maintenance and minimize breakdown.
  6. Condition monitoring program for all manufacturing equipment and plant support services, utilizing techniques such as predictive maintenance, preventive maintenance program and fully investigating equipment failures and ensuring effective solutions are implemented.
  7. Adhere to ISO procedures and safe working practices in day-to-day routine work.
  8. Accountable for following the applicable documentation and ensuring compliance.
Authorities
  1. Stop the work if unsafe condition areas.
  2. Reject the use of defective equipment/materials that could affect QHSE.
  3. Reject products which deviate from the prescribed working standards.
  4. Get materials from the stores.
Level of Education / Qualifications:
  1. Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
Skills Required:
  1. Mechanical maintenance
  2. Electrical maintenance
  3. Installation & commissioning of equipment
  4. Preventive, Corrective and breakdown maintenance
  5. Technical expertise and support to machine shop
  6. Awareness of risk assessment & contingency plans
  7. Knowledge of Oracle / applicable maintenance software
  8. Knowledge of HSE Aspects, QMS, API and ISO standards
