As an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Design Engineer you will work with multiple design disciplines, network engineering teams, technical deployment engineering and management, and operations teams to bridge gaps, and support design and deployment of ICT infrastructure in Amazon Physical Stores. Amazon Stores are the first grocery stores to offer Just Walk Out (JWO) Technology. These are stores with advanced shopping technology so you never have to wait in line. Our checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by our JWO Technology, which automatically detects when products are taken from, or returned to the shelves, and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. The position requires strong working knowledge in a wide variety of building types and systems (both the design of such systems and also installation and maintenance). Candidates must be capable of making creative design recommendations and must have the ability to articulate design justification to different groups within the organization. This position will be part of an exciting, fast-moving ambiguous business unit, where everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats and work effectively in a highly collaborative environment. As a member of this team, you will work directly with engineers and managers across the globe to develop connectivity solutions for the physical layer. You will work with multiple teams to design and plan ICT network infrastructure to include space, pathway, power, cooling, wireless and cabling design specifications for construction and permitting. You will work with industry suppliers and manufacturers to develop product requirements and recommend new technologies. You will work with and manage third party ICT design consultants and Low Voltage Contractors (LVC). As an ICT Design Engineer you will:
- Collaborate with MEP Designers, Network Engineers, Architects, Design managers, Procurement teams and Implementation Managers to coordinate design and deployment of IoT devices and ICT infrastructure to include power, cooling, space, pathways, cabinets, racks, and network equipment
- Review, approve and stamp ICT product data submittals with RCDD, P.E. or other ICT industry certified Stamp
- Develop, establish and revise ICT BODs, SOPs, and Construction Specifications
- Work with BIM teams to create, edit, and revise design drawing details and templates
- Attend design meetings, and review, comment and approve ICT design drawings and specifications using Bluebeam or other PDF software
- Analyze, optimize, troubleshoot and improve Wi-Fi network designs
- Write 1 pager and 6 pager technical documents with analytical cost data and present to executive leadership to propose changes in ICT designs
- Work with procurement teams, product manufacturers and distributors to develop maintain and manage Global ICT Product equipment lists, pricing and lead times
- Develop and provide RFP, SOW and Bid Templates to ICT design consultants and LVC - Review, analyze, level and compare bids
- Manage ICT design consultants and LVC Contractors holding them accountable for on time, high quality deliverables
- Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively

* BICSI RCDD Certification or internationally recognized equivalent (e.g. CDCDP, DCDC, CNIDP, PE etc.)
* 5+ years Information and Communications Technology (ICT) design experience
* 5+ years of working experience with fiber optic components, cabling, and interconnect products, technologies, and standards
* 5+ years of experience developing design documentation (plans, specifications, etc.) for construction and/or permitting
* 3+ Years experience in Revit

* Certified Network Infrastructure Design Professional (CNIDP)
* Ekahau Certified Survey Engineer (ECSE) certification
* 3+ years experience using Ekahau to develop and plan predictive AP placement
* 3+ Years experience in carrying new design concepts from exploration, concept, development, through deployment/construction

• Successful delivery of the BMS Engineering Strategy, Design and Construction scope for THE LINE in a manner that supports the successful delivery of the project goals in terms of budget, schedule, quality and sustainability. Being part of the team accountable for delivering the multi-disciplinary engineering for THE LINE region
• Leading a team of supporting staff to provide support to the LINE Design Project Engineering Management teams for the regional assets as well as oversight of what LINE Projects are procuring / managing. Working with THE LINE Design in setting BMS Engineering strategies
• Overall accountability for the success delivery of the BMS Engineering systems in the LINE regional assets (i.e. irrespective of how that work is delivered)
  
  

• Develop a comprehensive BMS Engineering strategy aligned with the LINE delivery strategy, led by the Director - Building Services and coordinating with the Building Services strategy
• Develop implementation plans for BMS Engineering that consider project-specific requirements, timelines, and budgets. Align plans with the overarching mission and objectives, ensuring a clear roadmap for achieving our goals. Review and adopt the studies already carried out by the LINE Proponent Infrastructure team and the LINE Design Engineering team, develop further non-project projects as appropriate
• Utilize industry knowledge and network to source opportunities for BMS Engineering. Evaluate and select technologies that align with our goals and can be seamlessly integrated into our projects
• Establish and nurture strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and alliances with technology providers, research institutions, and industry experts. Foster collaboration to accelerate adoption of innovations where these have value to the process
• Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and excellence. Provide mentorship, guidance, and direction to ensure the successful execution of the BMS Engineering strategy
• Demonstrate a strong ability to analyze complex issues and develop innovative solutions to overcome obstacles to ensure successful project execution
• Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact of BMS Engineering on project timelines, costs, and environmental footprint
• Regularly monitor and report on progress to leadership
  
  

• Minimum of 15 years of experience in BMS Engineering and related fields
• Proven track record of successfully managing relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
• High level of emotional intelligence and diplomacy
  
  

• Relevant Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree Preferred
