The Job in a Nutshell

We are looking for a Product Design Manager to lead and elevate its design discipline. This managerial role involves collaborating across departments (Product, Data, Engineering) to define and scale both Product Design and UX writing & research. You'll own the Product Design team's success, improve design processes and quality, and empower the company for innovation and accessibility. By shaping Foodics' design evolution and ensuring brand consistency, you'll contribute to building user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing products that fuel the company's continued growth.

What You Will Do

• Partner closely with our Designers, Product Leaders, and Engineering Managers to shape our strategy and roadmap for the Foodics Design discipline.
• Foster a cohesive design team culture by mentoring junior product designers, providing growth opportunities, and creating an environment that attracts and retains top talent.
• Scope project work (in partnership with PMs, Data, and engineers) and help define the strategy, roadmap and timelines to implement them.
• Act as a coach for the team providing technical guidance, feedback, and the right support to help each member do their best work.
• Elevate the team's performance and help Foodics challenge the status quo.
• Be a technical reference for the team, seeking to adapt and replicate the best practices in the market, elevating the design standards at Foodics.
• Proactively seeks areas of opportunity and business growth, negotiate and help the team prioritize and execute.
• Oversee multiple initiatives from insight to strategy, to launch across all platforms and devices.
• Collaborate with management to develop and maintain cultural initiatives that keep our design team engaged, enthusiastic, and united.

We are hiring a UX designer for our Design System Team.

You will play a key role making open source software available to the world. Our Design function ensures the experience of the software and infrastructure we build is true to our intentions, and delivers the tools our community and customers need. The Design System UX designer makes that possible by defining, evolving and advocating for a consistent use of design system that scales across our products.

This role sits in the design system team reporting to Design Systems Management

Location: This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.

The role entails

• Building and evolving Canonical's design system, ensuring measurable adoption, consistency, scalability and accessibility across our products
• Collaborating with designers, engineers and stakeholders to translate user needs and brand principles into reusable components, patterns and guidelines
• Championing design system best practices, advocating for cohesive user experience and design, providing documentation and support for cross-functional teams
• Designing and documenting UI components, design tokens and interaction patterns
• Ensuring timely and efficient delivery of the roadmap
• Enabling alignment on design system usage and governance across teams
• Advocating for accessibility, performance, and scalability in design system decisions and iterating based on data and technological advancements

About the Role

This role is normally performed by Architectural/Interior Graphic Designer with about 3 to 5 year of post-graduation experience.

As part of a multi-disciplinary project design team, responsibilities will involve translating design concepts into visual representations that aid in communication and decision making and project realization. Primary Objectives of the Role:

• To on occasion provide graphic designs for reports in the creation of a form of branding/logo to support our efforts in the delivery of BD/RFPs or projects.
• Provides support to the interior design team and management staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Essential knowledge of working within an Interior Design or Architecture practice to assist in the delivery of design reports with production of indesign documentation, with a highly skilled knowledge of indesign and efficient output management.
• Provides research and input in the concept creation of design reports
• Performs original graphic design concepts/diagrams in the support of report outputs
• Provides assistance for the team and mentoring in their output of reports where work is shared across team members and projects.
• Has an excellent knowledge of Adobe Suite, as well as indesign, photoshop and illustrator etc. Some knowledge of Animation and video creation a bonus.
• Excellent knowledge of text and font usage and ideation to produce and curate a beautiful graphic output. Excellent content creation and knowledge of curating text to suit design output.
• A keen eye for aesthetics and details and how to shape documents so that they are clear and communicate the design narrative effectively.
• Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines, a core ability to work together with a team, bridging across design outputs.
• Knowledge of mapping out their timeline to ensure deliverability and finding creative solutions.
• A strong portfolio of similar exemplars from a background working in design practices.
• Keeping abreast of industry trends in design and graphic design, AI, visualization tools, communication tools to augment our output in keeping with innovation and competitive requirements.
• This role may require some customer facing responsibilities, presenting graphic or branding concepts should we be required to provide a branding output for particular projects (hospitality, residential).
• Knowledge of wayfinding and branding design a bonus providing support and ability to deliver such designs in support of project output.

Accountabilities

• The Architectural/Interior Graphic Designer reports to the Senior Interior Designer and Head of Department.
• The Architectural/Interior Graphic Designer consults with the Senior Interior Designer on the actions they are taking and must always seek Senior Interior Designer approval prior to taking action that might commit the firm beyond the appointment and agreed graphic design output.

Skills/Qualifications

• Proficiency in Graphic Design softwares, Adobe Suite a must.

• 3+ Years of experience in architectural or graphic design within industry with a strong portfolio
• Industry knowledge, design principles, experience in large scale architectural/interiors projects.
