Main Accountabilities And Responsibilities

  • Proactively leading and advising Project (including Sub-Contractor) line management in the implementation of the Environmental components of the Health/Safety/Environment Management System
  • Acting to directly support the efficient implementation of Project related environmental commitments and conditions;
  • Monitoring compliance with Pro-active involvement with Project related environmental commitments and conditions;
  • Assisting in the preparation of Environment Management related documents and programs.
  • Acting to identify improvements in the Project’s management system and management initiatives, particularly in relation to environmental matters;
  • Efficient completion of other assigned tasks as directed.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment by:
  • Being aware of Australian and Local Statutory Health, Safety & Environmental Regulations;
  • Demonstrating an understanding of the project objectives in the areas of Health, Safety and the Environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualifications – degree;
  • In-field site development experience required;
  • Environmental management system structure and implementation experience;
  • Competent to deliver environment related training effectively

**Job Description:**
Parsons is looking for a dedicated and experienced **Environmental Coordinator - Aviation** to join our team! You will oversee environmental compliance and sustainability efforts for a major airfield infrastructure project.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in environmental management on large-scale infrastructure or aviation-related projects. This role demands a strong understanding of environmental regulations, impact assessments, monitoring procedures, and stakeholder coordination to ensure the project aligns with local and international environmental standards.
**What You'll Be Doing;**
+ Ensure full compliance with environmental permits, legislation, and regulatory requirements throughout all project phases.
+ Monitor and enforce compliance with **Environmental Management Plans (EMPs)** , Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), and **Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)** .
+ Conduct regular environmental site inspections, audits, and surveys to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
+ Prepare and submit accurate environmental reports, incident logs, and monitoring results to the client and regulatory bodies.
+ Track and report key environmental performance indicators, including air quality, noise, water, waste, and biodiversity metrics.
+ Maintain proper records of environmental inspections, mitigation actions, and non-compliance cases.
+ Liaise with contractors, consultants, government authorities, and project stakeholders to address environmental concerns.
+ Support public consultation, environmental briefings, and awareness sessions for construction teams and subcontractors.
+ Coordinate with health and safety, QA/QC, and construction teams to align environmental protection with operational activities.
+ Identify potential environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impacts.
+ Support the preparation of emergency response plans for environmental incidents such as spills or hazardous waste events.
+ Promote proactive environmental practices in line with sustainable construction goals.
+ Provide guidance to junior environmental officers and site staff on regulatory requirements and best practices.
+ Lead environmental toolbox talks, training programs, and awareness campaigns to foster a culture of environmental responsibility.
**What Required Skills You'll Bring;**
+ Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
+ Master's degree or specialized certifications in environmental management are preferred.
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental coordination, with significant involvement in infrastructure or airport/airfield projects.
+ Demonstrated understanding of national and international environmental standards and practices (e.g., IFC, ISO 14001, EPA, ICAO standards).
+ Strong knowledge of environmental monitoring procedures, reporting protocols, and regulatory compliance.
+ Experience with impact assessments, waste management plans, erosion control, and pollution prevention.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed technical reports.
+ Familiarity with GIS, environmental modeling tools, or monitoring equipment is an asset.
+ Capable of working in dynamic site conditions and managing multiple environmental priorities simultaneously.
+ Certification in ISO 14001 EMS, NEBOSH Environmental, or equivalent.
+ Prior experience working with airport authorities or on aviation infrastructure projects.
+ Understanding of LEED, Estidama, or other green building/sustainability frameworks.
+ Arabic language skills are an advantage.
+ Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to guide environmental compliance in multi-disciplinary teams.
