Overall Purpose:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of the football jersey production process, from initial order to final shipment. This includes production planning, inventory management, quality control, team leadership, and ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities and Job Description Elements:
- Production Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop and implement detailed production plans based on incoming orders, considering factors like sublimation requirements, material availability, and machine capacity.
- Create daily/weekly production schedules, assigning tasks to specific team members.
- Monitor progress against the schedule, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions.
- Optimize workflow to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory levels of raw materials (fabrics, inks, transfer paper, packaging materials, etc.) and finished goods.
- Implement inventory control procedures to minimize waste, prevent stockouts, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Forecast material needs based on production plans and order patterns.
- Negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best possible prices and delivery terms.
- Team Leadership & Management:
- Supervise and motivate a team of production staff involved in printing, sublimation, packing, and unpacking.
- Provide training and guidance to ensure team members have the skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
- Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Quality Control:
- Establish and enforce quality control standards throughout the production process.
- Implement inspection procedures to identify and correct defects.
- Investigate the root cause of quality issues and implement preventative measures.
- Ensure that all finished products meet customer specifications and quality expectations.
- Equipment Maintenance & Optimization:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of printing, sublimation, and other production equipment.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
- Identify opportunities to upgrade or improve equipment to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Order Fulfillment & Shipping:
- Coordinate with the sales and customer service teams to ensure accurate order information and timely communication.
- Oversee the packing and shipping process to ensure that orders are fulfilled accurately and efficiently.
Time Management Considerations:
- First Month:Focus on learning the existing production processes, inventory system, team dynamics, and order flow. Develop a baseline understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Months 2-3:Implement process improvements, optimize production schedules, and refine inventory control procedures. Set up reporting systems to track KPIs and identify areas for improvement.
- Months 4-6:Continuously monitor KPIs, identify and address bottlenecks, and implement training programs to enhance team skills.
