Overview
*Duties and Responsibilities: *

  • Support in defining Process Control Objectives for the processes and following up to ensure that sector objective is in line with the global Refinery objectives and oversee the teams activities in a way that supports the achievement of these objectives.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and follow up on the usage of standard control loops.
  • Manage and coordinate all project troubleshooting activities as assigned to Process Control engineers. Support by proposing an adequate advanced control solution to solve recurrent problems and issues.
  • Support Advanced Control systems modifications and related items to PCS.
  • Ensure continuous knowledge management/sharing among colleagues.
  • Close coordination with relevant Sr. Process Control to set the priorities and activities.
  • Communication & Coordination with other divisions (Maintenance (CET & M&R ) Process engineering, Business teams).
  • Contribute to developing necessary Process Control yearly budget.
  • Manage and instruct PCS Technicians in respective areas.
  • Develop the training and development requirements of the subordinates.
  • Forecast and control the budget and expenditures of the Organization.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent Process Control.
  • Managing daily meetings and oversee daily activities.
  • Ensures that Process Control Systems are following & maintaining a high level of standard for Cyber Security to secure Refinery assets & production and data.
  • Ensures that the refinery process control systems are maintained safely.
  • Drives a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Provide direction, motivation, training, and technical support to colleagues and subordinates.
  • Provides Reports and key performance indicators.
  • Participate in Technical meetings and provide presentations based on objectives.

Minimum Qualifications And Experience

  • Education Background: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent. (Computer Science, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering)
  • Experience: 6-8 Years experience in Control Engineering in the Petrochemical Industry.

The Jazan IGCC is the world’s largest IGCC and ASU facility producing 2100 MMSCFD syngas, 18,000 MT/Day Oxygen and 4 Gigawatts of power. We require a Process Engineer with a strong understanding of plant process control methodology and practice or a Control Engineer with a strong understanding of process engineering principles and applications. You will support the commissioning and early life phases of the project to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operation. Your contribution will be to identify and solve operability issues by implementing process control solutions based on your understanding of the process. You will also provide a significant contribution in the journey to advanced and integrated controls across the facility.

Responsibilities
  • Tuning of simple control loops, cascade control loops and complex/inter-related control configurations.
  • Quickly identify the root cause of control/operability problems in commissioning and early operations and provide necessary solutions.
  • Analyse and understand operating plant behaviour and recommend modifications to improve controllability to meet the operational objectives.
  • Review complex and inter-related control systems using key engineering design documents and recommend improvements to meet the design objectives.
  • Implementation and operational support of advanced control systems on process units.
  • Provide key input to the development, implementation, testing and continuous improvement of a site master control system and cross site integrated trip system.
  • Optimising both continuous and batch processing control systems.
  • Production of design documentation such as PFD/P&ID mark ups, control narratives, cause and effect tables and logic diagrams.
  • Work effectively with system vendors/external service providers/external engineering resources.
  • Able to deliver training to plant operators in process control and plant engineers in controller tuning.

You should have previous experience of the above gained in an operating plant or commissioning environment, working for an operating company, EPC, licensor/OEM or specialist service provider.

Required personal Attributes
  • The applicant must have a strong safety focus and be an advocate of working within a management of change system for plant control systems.
  • Strong communication skills from board operator to plant manager level
  • Able to work independently, with the self-confidence to solve problems on operating plant.
  • Able to communicate effectively across different cultural norms and with non-native English speakers.
  • Work efficiently as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
  • a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering or Controls/Automation Engineering.
  • a minimum of 10 years' experience, 5 of which is gained in a role related to this position
  • Ideally have experience of 1 or more of the process technologies utilised at the Jazan IGCC.

We are looking for an Advanced Process Control (APC) Engineer to join our team at Global Manufacturing Excellence (GME) under the Reliability Solutions Department (RSD).

Reliability Solutions Department (RSD) provides engineering support to Saudi Aramco Global Manufacturing wholly owned and affiliates’ facilities (Refining, NGL Processing, and Petrochemicals). This includes reliability, inspection, corrosion management, static equipment, rotating equipment, electrical equipment, instrumentation and control support.

Your primary role will be to provide expert guidance and support to optimize operations using Advanced Process Control technologies such as DMC3, PACE or Profit Suite. You will also lead improvement initiatives for all operating departments within the Global Manufacturing Portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Streamline APC objectives with corporate objectives and develop programs, best practices, and monitor KPIs to improve APC and economic performance.
  • Analyze data from various sources, such as process variables, instrumentation, and control systems, to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop inferential (linear and non-linear) to improve refinery operations, efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Implement APC strategies, perform feasibility studies and establish new business cases to optimize refinery operations and maximize the yield of desired products.
  • Conduct pilots and evaluate new APC technologies such as Real-Time optimization, Machine Learning, and AI to contribute to yield improvement.
  • Analyze chronic problems and debottleneck complex APC to improve process operations and economic benefits.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to operating facilities Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams by consulting, provide awareness sessions, and participating and leading technical exchanges and conferences.
  • Lead technical sessions such as the design review, model review, and commissioning.
  • Perform periodic assessments and evaluations to assess the performance and effectiveness of real-time optimization solutions.
  • Work closely with the optimization team (Real Time optimization engineers, Simulation engineers and automation engineers) and ensure optimization requirements are met.
  • Lead pre-and post-performance baseline evaluation for APC technologies.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering degree. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • 15 years of experience in reliability engineering in the Oil and Gas Industry’s downstream sector. Twenty years is preferable.
  • Expertise in APC, control systems, and Open Platform Communication OPC.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of refinery economics, mass and energy balances.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with international standards and specifications for advanced process control.
  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills in the field of advanced process control.

Education & Minimum Requirements
  1. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemical / Electrical / Instrumentation / Automation / Control Engineering from reputable universities.
  2. Experience in process control, automation and optimization in refinery / petrochemical industry.
  3. Strong knowledge and experience in process control, automation and optimization covering refineries/petrochemical processes on PCS (e.g., Yokogawa DCS, SIS Triconex, PLC), DCS regulatory and complex control systems, and APC/RT0 applications (Honeywell and Aspen).
  4. High analytical skills to develop/improve control strategy, procedures, programs and engineering practices aligned with plant economics and business requirements.
  5. Ability to lead and provide technical support/consultancy for multi-disciplinary engineering sections and cross-functional activities related to process control.
  6. Demonstrated specialty/ expertise with records of results.
  7. Certifications such as Professional/Chartered Engineer are preferable but not required.
  8. Strong leadership and engineering justification skills.
  9. Analytical skills with business strategic planning from basic concepts to implementing solutions and sustaining benefits.
  10. Results-oriented with clear objectives/goals.
  11. Extensive process control troubleshooting/commissioning/ implementation experience in various refinery and petrochemical processes.
  12. Good communication skills including technical report writing/presentation.
  13. Ability to develop knowledge and skills of process control engineers via training and coaching.

Overview

We are looking for an Advanced Process Control (APC) Engineer to join our team at Global Manufacturing Excellence (GME) under the Reliability Solutions Department (RSD).

Your primary role will be to provide expert guidance and support to optimize operations using Advanced Process Control technologies such as DMC3, PACE or Profit Suite. You will also lead improvement initiatives for all operating departments within the Global Manufacturing Portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Streamline APC objectives with corporate objectives and develop programs, best practices, and monitor KPIs to improve APC and economic performance.
  • Analyze data from various sources, such as process variables, instrumentation, and control systems, to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop inferential (linear and non-linear) to improve refinery operations, efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Implement APC strategies, perform feasibility studies and establish new business cases to optimize refinery operations and maximize the yield of desired products.
  • Conduct pilots and evaluate new APC technologies such as Real-Time optimization, Machine Learning, and AI to contribute to yield improvement.
  • Analyze chronicle problems and debottleneck complex APC to improve process operations and economic benefits.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to operating facilities Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams by consulting, providing awareness sessions, and participating and leading technical exchanges and conferences.
  • Lead technical sessions such as the design review, model review, and commissioning.
  • Perform periodic assessments and evaluations to assess the performance and effectiveness of real-time optimization solutions.
  • Work closely with the optimization team (Real Time optimization engineers, Simulation engineers and automation engineers) and ensure optimization requirements are met.
  • Lead pre-and post-performance baseline evaluation for APC technologies.
  • Monitor economic benefit Key performance indicators and provide recommendations.
  • Review standards and General Instructions on behalf of the GME departments and act as leading SME.
Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrate familiarity with international standards and specifications for advanced process control.
  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills in the field of advanced process control.
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage technical discussions and guide technical teams.
  • Knowledge of oil/gas-related plant processes.

Overview
