Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Plumbing Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to designs, develops, and oversees the installation of plumbing systems, ensuring compliance with codes, project requirements, and industry standards while providing technical leadership to teams and managing project execution.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads the design, development, and installation of plumbing systems for a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with building codes and industry standards.
Oversees the preparation of plumbing system plans, drawings, specifications, and calculations for water supply, drainage, and gas systems.
Collaborates with architects, engineers, and other professionals to integrate plumbing systems seamlessly into building designs.
Conducts detailed analysis of project requirements, budgets, and timelines to ensure plumbing systems are designed and delivered effectively.
Provides technical guidance to junior engineers, designers, and contractors, ensuring all work aligns with project goals and specifications.
Reviews and approves plumbing designs, ensuring they are efficient, cost-effective, and in compliance with applicable regulations.
Conducts site inspections to ensure the correct installation of plumbing systems and resolves any issues that arise during the construction phase.
Coordinates with clients, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure plumbing systems meet expectations and regulatory requirements.
Prepares technical reports, cost estimates, and documentation for project proposals and progress updates.
Stays updated on the latest plumbing technologies, codes, and best practices to continuously improve design quality.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
Minimum 7+ years of experience in plumbing system design and engineering
Professional certification or licensure (e.g., PE, CPE) preferred
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
In-depth knowledge of plumbing codes, building regulations, and sustainability practices
Proficiency in plumbing design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and MS Office Suite
Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to resolve complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions
Experience with large-scale plumbing system design and installation projects

Job Description
Responsible to the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department within a multi-discipline design office, the position involves leading a team of design engineers and CAD operators in the design, drafting and specification of plumbing, fire protection and associated services for a variety of building projects from concept stage to issuing of construction contract documents, including high-rise corporate, commercial, residential, hospitality, leisure and recreational educational and health-care facilities. The role may also require short term supervision and inspection of mechanical systems installations during the construction stage.
Suitable candidates will hold a Bachelors or higher degree in mechanical engineering and have a minimum of 3 years experience in the design of plumbing and fire protection systems for large scale building projects including, but not limited to water treatment and supply, sanitary, waste water and storm water drainage, sewage treatment, automatic and manual fire protection, irrigation and swimming pools. At least 2 years experience should have been gained in the Middle East. Experience and capabilities in external piped utilities and infrastructure would be a definite asset.
In-depth knowledge of plumbing and fire protection systems and services for a variety of building types, including high-rise corporate and residential, hospitality, low-rise commercial and retail, leisure and recreational, educational and healthcare facilities is essential, together with a clear understanding of of the relationship and coordination requirements between the plumbing and fire protection services design and architectural and other engineering design disciplines on complex projects.
Candidates will be able to prepare clear and detailed calculations using computer software, sketch drawings and diagrams and specifications and act in a supervisory role to provide guidance to engineers and CADD operators in preparing design documentation.
Candidates will be fully conversant with international standards and codes of practice for mechanical engineering, including IBC, UPC, IPC, NFPA and other regulatory standards. Familiarity with quality assurance/quality control procedures applicable to design activities is also important.
