Main tasks and responsibilities- Participates in the compilation of basic process design data; finalizes process scheme & equipment selection.
- Prepares preliminary design, drawings, detailed drawings and fabrication details.
- Participates with the Design Manager in the final selection of process, plant and equipment.
- Liaises with Project & Proposals Engineers to ensure smooth implementation of design; carries out design checks and certification as required.

The Design Engineer is responsible for creating, reviewing, and optimizing casting designs and tooling for various steel components. This role involves working closely with customers, production, and quality teams to ensure product manufacturability, dimensional accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. The Design Engineer also plays a key role in methoding and simulation to reduce casting defects and improve yield.
️ Key Responsibilities:
Product & Tooling Design:
- Develop 2D/3D CAD models for cast parts, patterns, core boxes, and other foundry tooling.
- Modify and optimize designs for better casting feasibility, minimizing defects and waste.
- Generate detailed technical drawings and documentation in accordance with industry standards.
- Design gating, riser systems, and layouts for steel castings using simulation tools (e.g., MAGMASOFT, ProCAST).
- Analyze simulation results and adjust methoding to ensure defect-free castings and high yield.
- Work with the production team to implement approved methoding on the shop floor.
- Participate in design reviews with internal teams and customers to ensure clarity, feasibility, and compliance with specifications.
- Provide technical support to sales and quality departments during quotation and troubleshooting processes.

- Master’s / Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in foundry or heavy industry design engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) and casting simulation software (preferred).
- Strong understanding of foundry processes, tooling, and metallurgical principles.
