Job Summary

Responsible for answering incoming calls from customers to take orders, answer inquiries and questions, handle complaints. Troubleshoot problem and provide information.

Major

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the NMC Hospitals and Clinics.
- Meet/assist all incoming calls, answer them, connect and take down messages when necessary. Answering calls with a polite telephone manners.
- Prompt response to telephone inquiries.
- Enter Physicians ROTA into the system after approval of Dept. Head & monitor by CMS their availability in clinics. Fixing appointment in the available slots.
- Opening temporary files for patient and informing the patient about his/her temporary medical record number.
- Opening files for new patients and recording the pertained data of the patient.
- Checking the financial coverage of the patient and required documents.
- Contacts patients those are in waiting list and book them with physicians and new schedules become available, contacts and books new appointment for patient whose original appointments have been canceled. Calls patients who missed their when there is a need for them to be seen by their physicians.
- Calls patients to remind them of their appointment two (1) days ahead of time.
- Work is conducted in a professional manner maintains patients confidentiality.
- Follows all departments’ policies and procedures.
- Participates in on-going education program developed by the department, e.g. department policy ang procedures, Fire safety, Risk management, Environmental control.
- Manage and resolve costumer complaints.
- Provide costumer with product and services information.
- Update existing costumers information.
- Complete call logs.
- Work flexibly as part of a team to provide an effective and efficient Appointment Service.
- Ensure the procedures for security, safety and confidentiality are complied with all times.
- Attend annual mandatory training including infection control, health and safety training, Departmental training & etc.
- Ensure a systemic filing of all records is being organized for easy access by all concerned staff
- Responsible to read, understand and familiarize himself / herself with, and comply with hospital and departmental rules, policies and procedures
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by his/her superior.
- Monitor Physicians vacations/leaves to be reflected on schedule after approval of Dept. Head & CMS.
- Reschedule/cancel patients after approval of Head of OPD.

Qualifications:
A minimum of:
**Education**:

- Diploma/ College graduate in general administration or any related field.

**Experience**:

- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a similar position preferably in healthcare facility.

Competencies & Skills:

- Tact, courtesy and public relations skills are a must.
- Good communication & interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in verbal and written English & Arabic is required.
- Good communication skills, telephone answering techniques etiquette.
- Computer literate

**Basic Function**:
Provides wide range of direct and complex nursing care to Medical/Surgical/Isolation Care Units patients requiring advanced nursing skills. Functions as a preceptor and role model for new hires and other identified staff and demonstrates effective collaboration and team behaviors. Provides clinical assistance to nurses, practical nurses, patient care assistants and nursing interns in the execution of their responsibilities and gives clinical resource support to the charge nurse. Functions using the Nursing Process with emphasis on direct patient care and related activities and referring to the Lippincott Manual and Mosby Competencies.

Acts as back up charge nurse when oriented.

**Scope**:
Working within Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare Nursing & Clinical Services Department in Dhahran, Al Hasa, Udhailiyah, Ras Tanura, and Abqaiq.

The Sr. Nurse Clinician provides complex professional nursing care to the patient using independent nursing judgment within defined programs, protocols, policies, procedures and standing orders. Receives supervision and direction from the Charge Nurse and unit manager. Work is performed on any shift, as required, in the Medical/Surgical/Isolation Care Units of the Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) facilities.

Work hours are assigned to meet operational needs. Hours may include on call and scheduled overtime.

Direction is through the unit manager.

**Principal Contacts**:
Ongoing with patients and their families home caregivers for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing plan of care; with new hire and newly assigned nursing staff for orientation and integration into the nursing unit; routinely with clinicians for carrying out clinician orders, assisting with medical procedures, and reporting changes in the patient's condition and/or needs, ongoing with Charge Nurse for collaborating and reporting.

Occasional public and community contact through communicating policy changes, revisions, and/or introduction of new work rules.

Occasional with other JHAH personnel and outside services.

**Principal Duties**:
1) ASSESSMENT:

- Acts as resource to other staff members during the assessment of complex patient/family needs.
- Assists other staff members in improving their knowledge and skills, giving input when needs are identified.
- Assesses the need for suitable staff development program/s in the assigned clinical area to ensure effective patient care.

2) PLANNING:

- Serves as direct care clinical resource in developing, coordinating, and reviewing the patient’s plan of care.
- 3) IMPLEMENTATION/INTERVENTIONS:

- Provides total, direct nursing care to patients requiring advanced, skilled or complex care.
- Completes specific competencies as identified by the supervisor
- Responds to life-saving situations within the unit based upon nursing standards and protocols such as Basic Life Support or Advanced carte Life Support
- Assesses patients and monitors patient’s vital signs as outlined in MSP-80
- Provides care to for patients admitted with renal diseases, pulmonary disorders (includes patients in isolation), gastrointestinal disorders, cardiac disorders, endocrine and hematology disorders, stroke and other neurological disorders.
- Provides care to patients undergoing surgical intervention including but not limited to General, Urology, ENT, Plastic, Neurosurgery Vascular, and Thoracic Surgery.
- Care for patients with chest tubes, Parenteral Nutrition (PN), tracheostomies, Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA’s), epidural analgesia and central lines (porta Caths, Peripherally Inserted Central Lines (PICC) lines).
- Precepts new hires and nursing interns and mentors nursing staff with identified needs.
- Assists clinicians with the more complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Performs procedures requiring advanced competency skills or training in the expanded nursing roles.

4) EVALUATION:

- Acts as resource to other staff members during the evaluation of complex patient care.
- Evaluates the progress of new hires, nursing interns, and other identified staff and gives input to the charge nurse, supervisor, and/or nursing intern coordinator.

5) PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS:

- Participates in the planning, implementing and evaluating patient care conferences and unit in-services.
- Evaluates patient care supplies/equipment and gives input to the charge nurse/supervisor.
- Serves as direct clinical resource in the development, review, revision, and implementation of nursing policies, and procedures, standards of care, and applicable medical organization policies.
