- Responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and evaluating all nursing service activities in the hospital.
- Delegate’s responsibility and authority to appropriate nursing staff.
- Ensures effective communication within the Nursing Services and with the other Departments.
- Represents Nursing In policy development and decision-making within the organization.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- The nursing director assumes the authority, responsibility, and accountability for assuring proper and effective nursing services.
- Guides the development and implementation of goals, objectives, protocols, standards, policies, and procedures in the Nursing Department which facilitates the highest possible standard of care with the resources available in the center.
- Establishes an organizational plan, channels of communication, and department structure to achieve the goals and objectives of the Nursing Department.
- Incorporates infection control, safety, and quality assurance programs into the objectives and activities of the Nursing Department.
- Assists with the development and implementation of nursing goals, objectives, protocols, standards, policies, and procedures in order to facilitate the highest standards of care within the resources available.
- Directs and delegates management of professional nursing staff.
- Solves problems as they may arise out of the performance of duties of the respective nursing functions, especially with regard to nursing care of patients.
- Effectively utilizes available nursing resources to meet patient care, educational and administrative demands in the Nursing Department.
- Participates in the preparation and administration of the Nursing Department budget as required.
- Attends training symposiums as a part of continuing education activities and for professional development.
- The nursing director is responsible for the direction, provision, and quality of nursing services provided to patients.
- The nursing director develops the nursing organizational chart as well as the nursing education and quality improvement.
- Receive reports on the status of Patients, Nursing Manpower, and other significant events by the Night duty of the Nursing Supervisor.
- Delegate tasks, assignments, and responsibilities to Nursing supervisors.
- Plans and coordinates with the CMO, utilizing the respective Nursing Leadership members for planning the budgeting requirements for personnel, supplies, and equipment.
- Review manpower, counsel nursing personnel, approved vacation requests, sick leave requests, etc.
- Conduct meetings with the supervisors of the different departments, or on a daily basis depending on the needs/problems that may arise.
- Requesting staff depending on identified needs of the nursing department.
- Reviewing all staff documents for skill level and scope of practice.
- Allocating staff according to patient type and acuity on the unit.
- Conducts meetings, conferences, and discussions with nursing staff to encourage participation in developing and implementing departmental policies and standards and to keep them informed about relevant issues.
- Maintains a professional appearance and acts as a role model to the staff
**WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
- Minimum (5) years relevant Clinical Nursing experience, with (2) years experience in nursing administration.
**EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION**
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Preferred master’s degree in nursing.
- Professional nursing license from country of origin.
- Valid registration and classification from Saudi Commission for health specialties (as Specialist).
- Current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
