Responsible to ensure compliance with ILEI HSE policies and procedures within the colleges, in accordance with UK and local occupational health and safety guidelines, and OHSAS 18001 standards. The post holder will be the local source of advice and guidance on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations and will conduct regular safety tours to ensure a safe working environment. The role will focus on prevention, so a conscientious and proactive approach is required together with a keen eye for detail. The post-holder primary goal is to establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a proactive culture to health and safety practice and management. Responsibilities • Promote appropriate behaviour and protect the welfare of students, faculty and staff • Support the College SMT with the HSE Policy and Guidance and maintain OHSAS 18001 compliance. • Conduct daily safety tours within the college and ensure non-conformities are communicated. • Provide accident or incident data to Head of Health & Safety in a timely manner. • Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and help prevent re-occurrence. • Conduct in-house and commercial training i.e. Fire Safety, Manual Handling, and First Aid training. • Conduct Safety meeting weekly/Quarterly as appropriate. • Ensure regular emergency response exercises and drills are conducted to ensure the highest level of preparedness in any emergency. Maintains records of such drills, providing recommendations for emergency response improvements. • Complete Risk Assessments and assist managers in completing them i.e. pregnancy and DSE Risk Assessments. • Supervises the regular inspection of firefighting, safety and emergency response equipment. • Ensure all new starters receive a site induction and complete ILEI’s online Health & Safety training modules. • Drive the implementation of programs and initiatives to foster a strong HSE culture. • Deliver and continuously improve HSE management systems and compliance programs. • Organize and Chair the HSE Committee Meetings. • Ensure the information on the safety notice board is relevant and up to date, including H&S Policy, hot topics, first aiders and fire wardens.

Requirements
* UK work experience is highly preferred • University degree in H&S or equivalent • NEBOSH IGC/NGC or equivalent. • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Health & Safety. • Computer literate • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to present and explain Health & Safety topics to SMT. • Experience in report writing Desirable • Working knowledge in Health, Safety Management Systems OHSAS 18001. • Experience of delivering Health & Safety courses, in particular fire safety and first aid. • Qualification in Accident and incident investigation UK work experience is highly preferred
