The Operations Director will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of two open pit mining contracts in Saudi Arabia with a combined production output of 60 mtpa. This role will ensure project deliverables are met in terms of production, cost, safety, fleet availability, and overall operational efficiency. The Operations Director will manage two teams of personnel, one with 300 people and the other with approx. 500 people, and report directly to the CEO
**Responsibilities**:
- Ensure that both mine sites operate in accordance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations, standards and best practices, and strive for zero harm.
- Develop, implement and monitor operational plans, policies, and procedures to optimize performance, minimize costs, and maximize production efficiency.
- Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure targets are met.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of employees, and provide ongoing mentorship and support.
- Prepare and manage operational budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Lead and motivate a diverse team of professionals, creating a positive working culture that fosters teamwork, accountability, and innovation.
- Participate in the development of new business opportunities and initiatives, including identifying and assessing new markets and partnerships, and collaborating with the CEO to develop strategic plans.
- Ensure fleet availability is optimized through the development of preventative maintenance plans, scheduling, and optimization of spare parts inventory.
- Operations Director will report and liaise with client stakeholders and company leadership.
**Requirements**:Qualification and Skill**_ _**
- Certificate of Competency (Blasting Ticket / Mine Managers Ticket)
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
- At least 15 years of experience in mining operations, with at least 10 years in a managerial role.
- Strong technical knowledge of open pit mining operations and equipment.
- Experience in managing large teams and creating a positive working culture.
- Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental standards in the mining industry.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
- Experience working in the Middle East or Saudi Arabia is preferred.
