Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced
MEP Design Engineer
with a strong background in
renovation and retrofit projects
. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and delivering integrated and compliant design solutions that meet both modern standards and project-specific goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct detailed site surveys to evaluate the condition of existing MEP systems.
• Develop MEP design solutions for renovation projects including HVAC, electrical distribution, lighting, firefighting, plumbing, and drainage.
• Ensure designs are coordinated across all disciplines and aligned with architectural requirements.
• Prepare technical drawings, load calculations, and specifications using industry-standard software tools.
• Propose upgrades and replacements to improve efficiency, safety, and energy performance.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards including ASHRAE, NFPA, and local authority guidelines.
• Support tendering process by preparing BOQs and technical documentation.
• Provide on-site technical support during project execution and respond to RFIs.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in MEP design with a focus on renovation or retrofit projects.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, materials, and integration in existing structures.
• Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, Dialux, and MS Office.
• Good understanding of sustainable and energy-efficient MEP design practices.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Job Objective:

Responsible for designing Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems for projects in alignment with functional, architectural, and structural requirements, ensuring efficiency, compliance with international codes, and industry best practices.

key Responsibilities

• Develop designs and drawings for HVAC, Plumbing & Drainage, Firefighting, and Electrical systems.
• Review architectural and structural inputs to ensure integration with MEP systems.
• Select equipment and systems (pumps, AHUs, chillers, electrical panels, cabling, lighting, emergency exits, etc.) based on calculations and specifications.
• Perform load calculations (thermal & electrical) using specialized software (HAP, Elite, Dialux, ETAP, Revit MEP).
• Review and approve shop drawings, ensuring compliance with design and specifications.
• Prepare BOQs and technical specifications for all MEP works.
• Coordinate with other disciplines (Architectural, Structural, Finishes) to resolve design conflicts.
• Respond to technical RFIs and support site execution teams.
• Ensure compliance with international and local codes/standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, IPC, SBC, BS, IEC, etc.).
• Participate in value engineering reviews to optimize costs without compromising quality or efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–7 years of proven experience in MEP system design.
• Proficiency in design and calculation software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, ETAP, Dialux).
• Strong knowledge of international and local codes/standards.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to prepare precise technical reports.
• Fluent in Arabic (mandatory).

Job Summary:

In this role, you will participate in the design, development, and evaluation of electrical components and processes. You will collaborate and support other engineering disciplines for electrical engineering matters. Your professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard electrical engineering techniques and criteria will enable you to make impactful contributions to the team.

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications
• Participates in the design, development, modification and evaluation of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
• Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines
• Provides technical assistance to other electrical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards
• Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience

• Knowledge and experience with electrical systems design including MV & LV power supplies, switchgear & motor control centers, power conditioning equipment, earthing & bonding systems, lightning protection systems, standby power systems, interior and exterior lighting and fire alarm & detection.
• Familiarity with applicable national and international design codes.
• Familiarity with sustainability design requirements applicable to conservation of energy and water supplies and third party sustainability accreditation requirements such as LEED and PEER.
• Understanding of airline industry and international regulatory codes, standards and design criteria relating to airport design.
• Experience with integration of airport electrical systems into building management systems and SCADA.
• Knowledge of interface management and the management of system to civil and system to system interfaces.
• Possesses working knowledge and production ability with computer-aided drafting software, such as AutoCAD and Revit.
• Possesses a working knowledge of BIM processes, including experience designing projects in BIM platforms, particularly Revit and Navisworks.
