Job Description
The Director of Medical Services will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of healthcare delivery to THE LINE workforce. Their duties will include reviewing and ensuring compliance to NEOM healthcare regulations and requirements to implement in daily practices, monitoring of support facilities, clinic and department practices and developing strategies to improve medical services delivery. Establish and facilitate communication between contracted medical service delivery professionals and patient workforce. Responsible for medical service delivery to the Program and for contributing to the creation and operational management of enduring medical facilities in the developed area. Establishing and Maintaining relationships with all Key Medical, Emergency Service & HSEQ Stakeholders.
Key accountabilities & Activities
- Work directly with providers to educate them on NEOM care process and determine what can be done to improve overall care quality.
- Act as the medical expert in dealings with vendors and non-medical facilities that work within the organization.
- Manage the number of activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services such as cost management, utilization review, quality assurance, and medical protocol development.
- Participate in various administrative staff meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information related to participants, medical staff and employees.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations in dealing with fellow employees, supervisors.
- Oversee the activities of group physicians, including the recruiting and credentialing processes.
- Develop policies and procedures.
- Responsible for reviewing NEOM’s Medical Services policy and procedures and effectively translating it into an effective solution for the Program.
- Responsible for the development (in coordination with facilities) with an effective network of medical facilities/aid stations to ensure that no employee in the development area of the Program is in excess of 500 meters from medical assistance.
- Responsible for ensuring the delivery of an uninterrupted and best-in-class medical response service to the Program.
- Responsible for interfacing effectively with multiple internal entities (facilities, the ICC, NEOM counterparts) to drive effective medical response solutions.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Medical Doctor (MD) w/ valid license to practice medicine required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 15+ years' experience in clinical medicine
- 6+ years experience practicing medicine in a combat environment and/ or in the emergency / trauma care unit of a major metropolitan hospital.
- Combat Surgical experience - i.e., Shock Trauma or Forward Surgical Unit Experience preferred
- 5+ years experience practicing medicine in an austere or deployed military environment.
- Able to enter understand and interpret information in the NEOM health system and compile reports or data as requested to support contract and operational decision points.
- 5+ years' experience in a hospital administration role.
- Superb judgment, problem-solving and cognitive skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Current knowledge of chronic care/geriatric issues and best practices
- Superior leadership skills
- Extensive medical experience is essential - either a Doctor or Nurse Practitioner in a trauma unit of a major metropolitan area (civilian) or as a special forces/conventional forces combat medic (military).
- Experience in developing policies and procedures and driving operational efficiencies will be essential.
- Must demonstrate critical thinking capabilities, the ability to work under extreme pressure to demanding timescales and clear and effective communication abilities.
