Specific Requirements Minimum 15 years’ experience in related field on national / international major initiatives Recognized expertise in assigned field. Extensive experience of working internationally (preference for Middle East / KSA). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Overview – Role

Jensen Hughes is seeking a Principal Fire Engineer/Consultant for Middle East to work across the projects based in the countries - UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. This strategic growth position calls for an experienced candidate who can work directly with clients and perform their own technical work. While supporting projects across Middle East , this role will be based in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia .

The Principal Fire Engineer/Consultant will have a well-rounded background in Mechanical and Electrical Fire systems design, review, and construction inspection along with strong analytical skills and business acumen. In this role you will lead & mentor a Mechanical + Electrical Fire systems design, review, and Construction review team of around 12 team members.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the design and engineering of fire protection systems, including, sprinkler system, suppression systems, fire alarms, emergency lighting and infrastructure distribution for complex projects across Middle East
  • Leading, coordinating workload, setting standards for reviews, peer reviewing and guiding the team on technical aspects reviews, both design drawings, shop drawings, along with site inspection, commissioning & testing, witnessing and installation inspections, related to Mechanical and Electrical Fire systems.
  • Guide, lead and mentor a team of 12 fire engineering professionals, advising and delivering complex solutions to large construction engineering projects developing fire protection strategies, performance-based design approaches, and alternative solutions to resolve client issues.
  • Lead and manage current and future projects ensuring that financial targets of the Project are met and exceeded, developing existing relationships with key clients and delivering fire safety engineering solutions, conducting Mechanical and Electrical Fire systems design, review and construction inspection
  • Provide Technical Solutions to Clients & oversee and peer review the work of Engineering staff, maintaining a high level of professional awareness of technical matters in the fire industry, providing updates and briefings as required.
  • Be the drive behind the delivery of technical excellence, team engagement, and the go-to in developing their key clients, excelling at being the all-important first point of call and lead discussions with the design team, Client and Civil Defense authorities.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in fire protection engineering.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, (preferably Electrical/ Mechanical or related field), ideally working towards becoming a Chartered engineer.
  • 12+ years of consultation experience related to Fire Alarms, emergency lighting, sprinklers, suppression systems, fire systems infrastructure distribution, in compliance with local, national, and international codes and standards
  • Working experience in the Middle East region, leading &coordinating workload, setting standards for reviews, conducting peer reviews and guiding the team on technical aspects for reviews, drawings, site inspection, commissioning and testing witnessing and installation inspections.
  • Proven experience in leading engineering teams along with proficiency in using engineering software and tools related to fire protection design including AutoCAD and Revit
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies and able to undertake work independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

This position requires a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering school. He shall perform Mechanical engineering functions required at site and execute works as per design. He shall supervise and inspect the works in compliance with engineering standards.
  2. The incumbent shall implement safety and prevent loss of life & damage to Ministry property at the project site. He shall coordinate with other disciplines to achieve timings in phases of construction activity, meeting target deadlines, and to bring the project to successful completion.
  3. The incumbent shall participate in management reporting such as planned activity, actual activity, and work accomplishment in part and/or whole. He shall also make records of as-built drawings for future reference of end user.
  4. The incumbent shall ensure that all required installations, testing, and commissioning specified shall be in accordance with code, specifications, and equipment manufacturer’s installation guidelines. He shall witness the required testing and commissioning works performed.
  5. The incumbent shall check, record, and inform his Resident Engineer and/or Head of Branch regarding deviations of materials or installation over approved documents. He shall take immediate actions if found that such activities being performed do not conform to the approved documents.
  6. The incumbent shall be thoroughly familiar with all local & international codes in set-up and installations of various systems which include but are not limited to HVAC, plumbing system, irrigation systems, water treatment & sewage treatment plant, lift elevators, laundry machines, kitchen equipment, fire protection system, generators, and medical gas plant equipment & distribution system.

Job Description

Position Summary

Working as Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for the design and development of the mechanical hardware in Company products, including design concept models, drawings, specifications and related documents and procedures (such as Assembly manuals, User manuals etc.).

Key Responsibilities & Authorities
  • Designs and develops the mechanical product components from concept through production
  • Conducts design analysis and optimization of mechanical components including considerations of design-for-manufacturability and cost
  • Selects components and materials based on analysis of specifications and reliability
  • Utilizes computer aided engineering design and analysis software in the design and development (such as 3D modeling, FEM analysis etc.)
  • Develops mechanical design documentation including drawings, specifications etc

Develops assembly manuals, procedures and instructions and may train operations and maintenance personnel.

  • Develops and tests models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification
  • Handles contacts with material distributors, subcontractors and manufacturers to create a high-quality product
  • Keeps up-to-date with development in technologies and regulations
  • Works in cooperation with the Production department, assisting in production startup and optimization work
  • Participates in equipment failure investigations
Skills/Experience
  • Bachelor of Engineering/Technology in Mechanical/Mechatronics
  • Experience in related Mechanical Design field with 3D software (SOLIDWORK, ANSYS and AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge in detailed designing and preparation of full set of drawings, Bill of Materials, Design Calculations, Validation and optimization according to process engineering
  • Knowledge in design of Pigging Tools, Pressure spools design & developments with analysis on SolidWorks and ANSYS is an additional advantage
  • Exposure to Design-manufacturing environment
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Mobility: Must be able to walk and climb to perform duties, including maneuvering within a refinery or plant environment and accessing elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells
  • Communication: Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, or other communication capabilities, to communicate effectively
  • Focus and Multitasking: Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively
  • Safety Equipment: Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection, if/where needed in manufacturing environments.
  • Personal Mobility and Reflexes: Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations when necessary

The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in mechanical design for Surbana Jurong in the Middle East region. They play a pivotal role in leading the MEP design team, ensuring successful project execution, and delivering high-quality mechanical designs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and manage the MEP design team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the team's performance and achieve business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, clients, and project managers to define project requirements and deliverables.

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of MEP design projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex mechanical design issues.
  • Review and approve mechanical design deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MSC degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE)
