FWA Global Inc. is an international employment services consultant. One of our leading clients in Saudi Arabia is looking for a mainframe administrator with strong VAX expertise. This is a permanent position with FWA Global and the candidate will work on site at our client’s facility.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain and configure the operation systems and perform updates on the following systems: VMS (VAX and Alpha), LINUX, HP9000, AS400, UNIX.
- Conduct the necessary technical studies to develop and write the engineering proposals for vendor support.
- Work closely with client personnel to ensure all plans and programs are implemented.
- Track down and troubleshoot failures using practical and safe engineering practices and repair all faults to ensure the elimination of equipment downtime.
- Configure the systems to be compatible with the client’s requirements.
- Maintain the system to a high standard of operation. Coordinate all maintenance and upgrades with the authorizing agency to ensure operations are undisturbed.
- Devise new approaches to solving problems.
- Take direction and accept any work assignments given by client management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university.
- A minimum of five years experience administering mainframe systems.
- Completed training courses on operating systems (VMS, Fortran, C++, Linux, AS400).
- Ability and desire to tackle difficult and new technical problems.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, customer interaction, and personal leadership abilities.
- Experience in planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Native fluency in Arabic; previous overseas work experience in the Middle East in the field advertised; current ability to live and work overseas (Middle East).
