Steer Studios is looking for a talented and hands-on Lead Game Designer to join our team and drive the success of our hybrid casual mobile titles. You’ll work closely with a team of passionate developers, data analysts, UX designers, and junior game designers to elevate both the product and the team. This is a key leadership role requiring strong execution, live game experience and mentorship ability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, detail, and directly supervise the work of Game Designers in your team.
- Ensure the team is creating innovative gameplay and experiences answering the product need and challenges.
- Support the team in designing, implementing and balancing core gameplay systems, live events, progression loops, and monetization features.
- Ensure clear, detailed, and actionable design documentation.
- Review game features to ensure they are on par with our quality expectations and developed as per the GDD.
- Master continuous review and iteration process to incorporate user feedback in game design and feature set.
- Use data insights and player feedback to iterate and improve features, as well as collaborate closely with Programmers, UX, art, and data teams to ship content and systems with high impact.
- Capacity to train, coach, and develop junior game designers with an experience sharing mindset.
- Help production understand the design team’s production capacity and work together to schedule and prioritize tasks.
Qualifications and Key Skills:
- Track record of delivering and operating successful Casual or Hybrid Casual mobile titles.
- Lead Game Designer or Associate Lead Game Designer, with experience on at least 1 full production cycle (from pre-production to live operation) across his career on one or multiple games.
- Strong understanding of KPIs, monetization mechanics and ability to drive game design from data findings.
- Hands-on mindset with experience in Unity or Unreal and proficiency in Excel to maintain game design configurations.
- Leadership and mentoring experience; ability to structure and grow a small design team and encouraging team collaboration.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
- Extensive knowledge of Game Design principles and the mobile gaming landscape.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to write clear documentation, making complex ideas clear, concise, and compelling.
- Attention to detail from both technical and artistic perspectives.
- Strong proactive problem-solving and intuitive development skills.
- Passionate gamer with an eye for details. Understanding of the industry, market, and target audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in game design or equivalent is preferred.
