JOB SUMMARY :

AlBorg Diagnostics, a leading provider of diagnostic health services, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Lab Technician to join our team. As a Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in performing various technical tasks and laboratory examinations of specimens and body fluids.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Perform laboratory examinations of specimens and body fluids following approved laboratory procedures.
• Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood and urine, using microscope or automatic analyzers.
• Set up, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment.
• Collect and prepare blood and tissue samples from patients in accordance with aseptic principles.
• Ensure proper handling, processing, and storage of all specimens.
• Adhere to quality control policies and document all quality control activities.
• Perform maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment as necessary.
• Enter and maintain accurate records of patient test results.
• Follow established corrective action policies and procedures for tests that fall outside acceptable levels of performance.

5. Reviews final test reports under the guidance of the Senior Lab Technician and Materials Engineer.
6. Manages test equipment within the department.
7. Performs sampling and testing on-site.

The Lab Technologist performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests with low and moderate complexity in different lab units, including Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Molecular Microbiology, Histology, and Transfusion Medicine. These are conducted in accordance with standard laboratory practices and procedures to obtain accurate and precise data for diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

• Perform routine laboratory tests using automated analyzers or manual techniques in Chemistry, Serology, and Immunology.
• Perform low and moderate complexity testing in Hematology, Coagulation, Histology, Parasitology, Microbiology, and Molecular Microbiology labs.
• Perform low and moderate testing in Blood Bank and Transfusion Services units.
• Work in Histology to prepare and stain specimens.
• Perform phlebotomy and other related activities, including collecting blood from inpatients and outpatients by finger stick or venipuncture.

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Technology, or a Laboratory Science program accredited by NAACLS is required.

SCFHS Classification and Saudi MOH Licensed Medical Laboratory Technologist/Specialist

Minimum 4 years’ experience in a licensed medical facility or clinical laboratory as a Lab Medical Technologist, along with the completion of a 1-year internship.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepares the laboratory budget including the expected income, cost, technical, human and financial resources needs for laboratories.
2. Prepares the monthly and weekly work plans for the laboratory.
3. Prepares growth plan for the laboratory in coordination with the regional manager and the applicable department.
4. Manages the daily laboratory operations including planning, organizing, and monitoring of the performance.
5. Develops and maintains appropriate control and quality assurance procedures; ensures compliance with safety requirements.
6. Validates accuracy of assigned laboratory reports. Verifies that abnormal results have been double-checked or investigated and that panic values are promptly reported to the concerned physicians.
7. Documents remedial action taken for detected deficiencies as identified through quality control measures or inspection.
8. Prepares and maintains required documentation of test results; records and analyzes data using computer hardware and software.
9. Assists technicians in the appropriate utilization of laboratory services and interpretation of results.
10. Maintains established procedures for the retention of specimen and patient records.
11. Coordinates maintenance of laboratory instrumentation with suppliers.
12. Calibrates laboratory equipment in accordance with appropriate methods and standards.
13. Approves requisitions and directs maintenance of an inventory of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
14. Coordinates leaves and holidays of staff in order to maintain a good workflow in the laboratory. Ensures that staff takes their annual and other holidays accordingly.
15. Ensures all lab team adhere to their job description.
16. Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
17. Minimizes the lab’s exposure and risk in the laboratory.
18. Ensures all laboratory documents are complete, current, and stored properly.

Minimum Requirements:

1. PhD or Master’s Degree in medical laboratories.
2. Certification as Doctor or a Senior Specialist from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, licensing from the Ministry of Health.
3. Minimum two years’ experience after the PhD, or five years’ experience after the Master degree in a managerial-level position in a private laboratory.
