Key Responsibilities:

The Infection Prevention Practitioner works at a section level of Johns Hopkins Aramco Hospital (JHAH) facilities (inpatient, outpatient, medical designated facilities / miscellaneous) and interfaces with IPC Practitioners to lead related initiatives for surveillance of hospital acquired infections, education, construction, policy development, outbreak management, hand hygiene, environmental service liaison and process improvements

Ongoing with JHAH supervisors in clinical and non-clinical areas; chairman of infection control prevention and control committee.

Principal Duties
Delegated by the Infection Control coordinator to be responsible for the infection control activities /operation of a section (inpatient, outpatient, medical designated facilities / miscellaneous) of JHAH, who may supervise at least 1 infection control practitioner
Skilled at using NHSN ( healthcare associated infections surveillance definitions) and may validate NHSN surveillance conducted by others
Independently performs surveillance, applies data mining principles, and can integrate both manual and electronic findings for comprehensive reporting
Has more advanced knowledge of epidemiology and study design; can conduct basic cluster/epidemic investigations
Possesses understanding of endemic vs epidemic rates, common or special cause variation
Uses more advanced statistical tools (SIR, P values, standard deviation, odds ratio)
Understands and/or uses more complex data display tools (control charts, affinity diagrams, and scatter plots).
Uses comparative analysis to support institutional accrediting, regulatory compliance, and others
Interprets and applies meta-analyses; interprets research findings, identifies study limitations and bias
Can design complex interventions, understands and applies principles of performance improvement (PI) and Implementation Science (IS) to both daily operations and special projects
