Mechanical Engineer Duties and Responsibilities

First: Technical and Operational Tasks

Design and develop mechanical systems for chemical equipment, such as pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, and piping systems.

Supervise the installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment used in the plant's chemical processes.

Analyze the causes of recurring failures and provide effective engineering solutions to reduce downtime.

Support operations to ensure stable temperatures, pressures, and flow in mechanical systems.

Second: Safety and Environment.

Ensure that all mechanical equipment operates in accordance with industrial and environmental safety standards.

Participate in mechanical risk assessments and develop emergency plans.

Cooperate with the Safety and Environment Department to ensure compliance with the regulations of the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) and the Environment Authority.

Third: Administrative and Technical Tasks

Prepare periodic reports on equipment status and operational efficiency at the plant.

  • Manage the technical team and assign tasks according to production and maintenance priorities.
  • Participate in selecting suppliers and new equipment based on technical specifications.

Propose solutions to improve energy efficiency and reduce resource consumption.

Keep up to date on the latest technologies in chemical equipment, such as corrosion-resistant pumps or high-efficiency exchangers.

  • Manage and develop site-level customer relationships to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Manage Health & Safety System for the site, according to OHSAS 18001. Manage Quality System for the site, according to ISO 9001. Manage Environmental System for the site, according to ISO 14001.

What You Will Do

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures on vacuum chambers, loading/unloading systems, and glass transport mechanisms.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for all mechanical equipment in the coating line.
  • Support production by minimizing unplanned downtime and ensuring maximum equipment availability.
  • Monitor equipment performance and participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for chronic mechanical failures.
