Amazon is looking for a Workplace, Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator to add to the team. Year-on-year, as we continue to grow, we need to work as smart as we can, to keep all our team members safe, fulfilled, motivated and empowered. We’re seeking a driven EHS Officer to help drive health and safety across our fulfillment center in Riyadh. You will report to the WHS Manager.
Responsibilities- Lead site risk assessment for current and new activities.
- Establish site WHS training matrix. Lead implementation of site specific WHS standards and guidelines.
- Lead implementation of site WHS objectives and programs.
- Promote a safe culture among employees by providing daily WHS content to shift briefings.
- Perform frequent site safety audits to identify non-compliant equipment and/or processes; work with Operations to implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injuries.
- Attend to incidents and occupational injuries on site.
- Guide and assist area managers on incident investigations, Gensuite write-ups and communication of lessons learned.
- Assist Ops team with Gensuite follow-up sheets and CAPA creation. Audit record-keeping practices and ensure Gensuite entries align with global WHS standards and local regulations.
- Ensure PPE inventory at site and coordinate with procurement for order placement.
- Lead Weekly Key Safety Requirement (KSR) Audit assignments, monitoring and support.
- Ensure completion of basic Fire Fighting and First Aid training requirements.
- Daily Powered Industrial Tool and Trailer Dock Release inspections and communications.
- Daily Action Tracking System monitoring and support.
- Participate in site management safety walk, providing insight into unsafe acts and conditions to management.
- Provide daily updates to Country WHS Manager on objectives progress, incidents, KSR, ATS, network actions, etc.
- Prepare WHS committee meeting agenda, minutes of meeting (MOM), ATS creation.
- Daily Permit to Work review and sign-off.
- Lead on WHS-related procurement and follow-up.
- Prepare emergency response plans and manage emergency drills; prepare records.
- Establish and monitor Heat Index; provide support.
- Provide support to site-specific requests, unplanned events and activities.
- Conduct daily and weekly WHS audits (e.g., hazard waste room inspection, spill kit inspection, first aid room, etc.).
- Must have: Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or Engineering/Science bachelor degree.
- +2 years of experience in OSH field. Good communicator – English.
- Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment and customer focus skills.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
- Experience leading and managing a team.
- Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses.
- Experienced in emergency response and currently holds First Aid and CPR certificates.

Overview
The Site WHS Officer will be responsible for partnering with a site operations team in a delivery station to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates. A successful Site WHS Officer will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. The Site WHS Officer must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders in Amazon WHS policies and assist the operations site teams in incorporating our safety standards at their site. You will work to identify best practices and incorporate these standard methodologies into our standards to continuously improve the safety landscape. The Site WHS Officer will possess excellent safety program knowledge as well as environmental and ergonomic knowledge and be able to demonstrate this expertise when working with Operations. The Site WHS officer will be a part of site WHS team and reports to site WHS manager. The WHS officer should be flexible to work in shifts. Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and company policy.
Key responsibilities- Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Amazon WHS standards/Policies.
- Measure site performance against published requirements in safety policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
- Deliver on-time and quality projects to Operations.
- Analyze safety metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to rationalize the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest.
- Ensure proper Incident Investigation and closure of Corrective action and preventive action.
- Perform frequent site safety audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site.
- Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury.
- Audit record-keeping practices and ensure Austin entries to be aligned with global WHS standards and local regulations.
- Audit the workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure that training, auditing and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.
- Lead and mentor Safety Associates in your assigned facility during peak.
- Spend time at the delivery station and seek input from Safety teams, Associates and leaders on safety program improvement opportunities. Ensure open communication on status of progress and resolution against these suggestions.
- Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy. Audit the quality, delivery (including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of all required safety training.
- Ensure the PPE’s inventory at site and coordinate with procurement will place order accordingly. Ensure site PPE compliance.
- You have to implement the best practices at site.
- Implement PIT (powered industrial truck) safety and yard safety system.
- Ensure standard Work Permit System usage at site.
- Implement and ensure safe contractor management at site.
- Ensure basic safety training calendar for associates and imparting trainings as per the same.
- Work along with facility team and ensure preventive maintenance of all Fire protection and emergency equipment’s.
- Ensure basic Fire Fighting training and first aid training requirements.
- WHS Experience/or WHS qualifications
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, ergonomics or a related field required.
- NEBOSH & IOSH certified.
- Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
- Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
- Good communicator - English & local language
- Available to work flexible shifts including days, nights and/or weekends
- 2+ years of growing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
- Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses
- Experienced in emergency response and currently holds First aid and CPR certificates.

- Analyzing safety metrics and incident trends to prioritize resources.

- Auditing record-keeping practices and workplace organization.
- Leading and mentoring Safety Associates.
- Engaging with site personnel for safety improvements and training.
- Managing PPE inventory and compliance.
- Implementing best practices, PIT safety, work permit systems, and contractor safety management.
- Coordinating with facilities for maintenance of safety equipment and training.
Basic Qualifications
- WHS experience or qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Bachelor’s degree
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification
- Excellent communication skills in English & Arabic
- Availability to work flexible shifts
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of safety/environmental experience in manufacturing, production, or service operations
- Ability to analyze data and conduct safety analyses
- First aid and CPR certification
- Experience with lean principles and process improvements
