JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.
BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting the Saudi Arabian National Agenda including Saudisation and the training and development of Saudi National capability through the growth of the Saudi National Partner Companies thereby reinforcing Industrialisation and Partnerships.
The job holder is responsible to the FMAS Manager through the FMAS Team Leader for the following:
- The Development of the Scenario Planning Toolset (Witness/IMS Long Range Planner) to maximise fleet readiness. Informing and influencing key Strategic and Tactical Fleet Plans.
- Fleet scenario planning, cognisant of the SSS Phase 3 commercial and business responsibilities, thus ensuring that all fleet plans and decisions are made with a thorough understanding of any potential impact on the Phase 3 KPIs and deliverables.
- Plans carried out, delivered in accordance with the RSAF Force priorities and integrated through the RSAF Command Structure, the Integrated Logistics Operations Centre (ILOC) and the RSAF and PC maintenance organisations.
- Monitor and where required provide fleet direction to other on base Salam Phase 3 functions with regards to Capability insertion programme status, CWP capacity and availability, aircraft input standard, input & output dates and schedules.
- Influencing the in-Kingdom end of the Salam Embodiment Steering Board (SESB), ensuring that all plans for future capability and performance fixes are made cognisant of any potential impact to the Salam Phase 3 KPIs.
- Coaching, training, mentoring and knowledge transfer to BAES and RSAF personnel under his direction or control.
- Development of the KSA / UK meeting and communications structure to ensure a level of integration exists between all Fleet Management and contract stakeholders.
- Build, maintain and validate Typhoon Fleet Scenario Models and proving planning advice for the RSAF Fleet. Strategic Planning – What If strategy modelling and subsequent advice to the Typhoon Support Centre Commander and RSAF Fleet Management Team.
- Tactical decisions that ensure the requirements of multiple business functions are delivered whilst supporting the operational need of the customer without detriment to the reputation of the service.
- Enhance and augment the Capability of the current Fleet Management Organisation by; developing and deploying fleet management policy underpinned by repeatable processes and procedures, developing and deploying modelling capability using the Witness Toolset and developing and deploying strategic and tactical planning capability using the Mxi LRP Toolset; Preparation of the daily fleet status report and stakeholder briefing pack for the daily stand-up meeting.
- Provide inputs for any formal reports as required by key stakeholders from RSAF, BAESSA or BAES.
- Have extensive proven aircraft maintenance experience supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training OR extensive proven experience in a relevant (CA or maintenance-related) role.
- Have extensive proven experience in a relevant management role.
- Able to describe or demonstrate a Familiar level of knowledge of Continuing Airworthiness, the aircraft types managed and the aircraft maintenance environment.
- Have a Practitioner level of skills in Technical Instructions and aircraft modifications, fleet planning, and Reliability Programme and Aircraft Maintenance Programme management.
- Leadership skills and proven ability to supervise all levels of personnel.
- Extensive supervisory experience in a high tempo operational environment in a Fleet Management or Maintenance position with knowledge of the Typhoon platform from a design or maintenance position.
- Previous working experience of fleet planning, capability & upgrade programmes or the test & evaluation environment and requirements of continuing airworthiness management
- Thoroughly competent with all elements of Microsoft Office and other IT toolsets to aid the planning of all capability insertion activities and the preparation of all associated reports & briefings.
- Experience in Witness and LRP.
- A recognised qualification to NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or suitable equivalent technical qualification acceptable to MCA. Or Part 66 licensed (current or lapsed), or suitable equivalent technical license acceptable to MCA.
- The successful candidate, Saudi or Expatriate must obtain Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership at the appropriate level, prior to starting the new role or commencing employment in KSA. SCE membership must be maintained throughout their employment in this role.
- Should have and be able to demonstrate sound oral and written two-way communication skills with the ability to be tactful, discreet and confident in dealing with people at all levels.
- Should be able to work on their own initiative to resolve complex technical issues.
- An understanding of RAF and /or RSAF engineering operating procedures.
- NVQ5/BTEC/HND or Degree in a relevant technical discipline, acceptable to MCA.
- Incorporated or Technician Engineer with an appropriate professional institute such as Royal Aeronautical Society or Institute of Engineering & Technology.
- Understanding and application of the LCM processes.
- Maintenance of inter-team dependencies across suppliers and customer boundaries.
- Proven track record supervising, training and mentoring staff at a senior level.
- High level of interpersonal skill to co-ordinate a large number of diverse and complex activities and the ability to communicate, influence and direct the decision-making process at all levels.
- The ability to act upon their own initiative within the scope of their job coupled with a conscientious approach to work and meticulous attention to detail
