Motorola Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Field Engineer to join our International Services team. This role is critical to the delivery of mission-critical operations systems, encompassing the development and implementation of customer applications and company products, ensuring optimal customer performance and success.

In response to rapid advancements in IT and communications technologies, and the increasing demand for Advanced Command & Control Center software solutions built on Cloud Computing, AI, and Machine Learning (ML), we are expanding our Services team.   • Maintain system performance and availability through incident and performance management processes.

  • Coordinate with the Local Customer Success Manager (CSM) for all activities related to Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP), and Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes.
  • Conduct regular customer meetings to discuss service availability and performance.
  • Address customer comments and inquiries related to specific project aspects or the entire project scope.
  • Perform field surveys as needed to assist field engineers in resolving radio system issues.
  • Plan and execute technical tasks according to established instructions and processes.
  • Respond to customer problems directly or through the internal customer interface.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical design-related issues.
  • Attend all scheduled and unscheduled customer meetings, providing reports to the Field Service Operations (FSO) Team Lead and CSM.

The primary objective of this role is to ensure all Service Obligations to the customer are met and to provide expert technical assistance and advice throughout the Maintenance Agreement lifecycle.

Basic Requirements

  • Engineering or Sciences degree OR 4+ years of experience as a System Manager or in Field Service, with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Land Mobile Radio (LMR), RF systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, or Networking equipment.
  • Legal authorization to work in the specified country indefinitely is required; employer work permit sponsorship is not available.
  • Background in Network/IT, Land Mobile Radio, Public Safety, or Customer Service.
  • Strong professional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent command of verbal and written English and Arabic.

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Offshore Engineering / Civil Engineering or equivalent.

Certifications:

  • Full GWO (BOSIET/FOET is accepted as alternative)
  • NOGEPA Medical (or equivalent like - OGUK, STCW)

Rotation/Duration:

Offer Description

The Field Engineer will support the development and deployment of a laser-based system. This role requires hands-on prototyping, electronics development, and software integration, especially using Python for real-time sensing and control. The candidate should have strong field experience, be comfortable working in outdoor environments, and be capable of handling sensor integration and electronic systems troubleshooting on-site. The engineer will work closely with a multidisciplinary research team to bring the technology from lab to field-tested implementation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in prototyping and/or field deployment.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, and Matlab programming.
  • Experience in embedded software development and electronics troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with environmental standards and safety protocols for field instrumentation.
Specific Requirements

Experience in optics and laser-based sensors is a plus.

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems OR equivalent work experience

Experience in IT Infrastructure support and server administration in a mid-sized environment (200 - 1000+ server systems)

Experience with data center M&E equipment

Demonstrated examples of a drive to dig into the details of a system or process to solve customer problems

Experience working in a “mission critical operations” environment

The position involves on-call which means you should have a driving license and be able to reach out to the Data Center site within 60 mins approximately and may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations

Ability to speak confidently and to communicate clearly in a virtual environment

Strong adherence to processes and be a Process Champion

Good communication skills (oral & written) and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of customers and staff

Experience providing client-facing, direct customer support and service.

Ability to work productively in remote cross-functional teams or resourcefully and independently as an individual

Highly service-oriented, reliable, responsible, self-motivated

Good English command

Required Data Center experience:

Basic knowledge of data center design, including electrical and cooling plant & operation thereof

Basic knowledge of airflow management (hot aisle, cold aisle, containment etc.)

Rack, stack equipment including commissioning of new racks

Strong structured cabling skills on fibre & copper (e.g. looming, term & test)

Required systems & hardware expertise:

Systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers)

Hardware repair, diagnosis & break / fix

Networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, basic troubleshooting)

IT Hardware Concepts (RAID, SAN, x86 architecture, SCSI, FC, ethernet, iLO)

Base Operating System Installs and configuration

Core OS Services: SSH, Telnet, RDP, FTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP etc.

Responsibilities

Act HW as support expert liaison to other technical teams & non-technical teams (e.g.: networking, compute, compliance, business operations)

Understand internal customer problem and provide technical solution in timely manner

Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all production server hardware

System board level repair and fault diagnosis to SLAs

Planning and commissioning new rack positions

Involvement with the design and commissioning of new whitespaces

Structured cabling installation is a significant part of this position

Keep up with the latest technologies and apply them appropriately

Adherence to defined Health & Safety processes at all times

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team without friction

Additional on premise work at customer locations maybe required
