Under general supervision, coordinates tasks involving hazardous chemical waste and other chemical safety issues. Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies and hospital policies and procedures. Conducts training programs in area of specialty. Ensure that cleaning services to the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital are provided to an acceptable standard in an effective and efficient manner.
**Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Inspects hospital areas for compliance with environmental health and safety regulations; advises users of the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Defines scope of work for potential contracts for building demolition or renovation and other chemically contaminated property including sampling, testing, removal, decontamination, and disposal.
- Coordinates special waste disposal projects including the handling of toxic gases, infectious materials, hazardous chemicals and mixed waste, including radioactive materials.
- Develops and conducts new employee training programs in the areas of infectious wastes, hazard communication and other hazardous substances.
- Advises management on potential hazardous materials and makes recommendations as required.
- Maintains records such as hazardous and non-hazardous waste manifests and associated documents.
- Responds to hazardous materials spills such as oil, acid, and mercury; implements clean-up plan.
- Inspect and evaluate enviroments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
- Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Review and implemnt enviromental technical standards, guidelines, policies, and formal regulations that meet all appropriate requiremnts.

Responsibilities- The Regional Environmental Engineer (REE) will be responsible for environmental compliance at Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The REE will develop standards and policies to support regulatory compliance and provide environmental compliance guidance for regional operations and construction teams. The individual will complete environmental performance analysis, establish and monitor metrics, and guide the teams in implementation of Amazon environmental standards. The REE will work with internal and external partners that include government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, operations and other key stakeholders. This position is based in Jeddah and will require regular domestic travel and occasional international travel.
- The Regional Environmental Engineer must have excellent communication skills, strong environmental regulatory knowledge, particularly with respect to Saudi Arabia’s regulations and standards, demonstrated success in program management, and experience leading teams in complex and technical projects. - – Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective action.
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering or related field of study
- Experience serving as an environmental technical resource, program specialist, or program manager
- Experience with regulatory assessments, construction notifications environmental permitting, environmental incident notifications, wastewater authority discharge requirements, waste management and reporting requirements. Broad knowledge of Saudi Arabia’s federal and provincial environmental regulations and standards
- Experience leading change in multiple site environments and the ability to influence those that are not direct reports or within your organization
- Fluent in Arabic, written and spoken
- Experience successfully implementing environmental systems
- Organizational and project management skills

The AWS Environmental team is an expanding and dynamic group responsible for enabling AWS's growth worldwide and ensuring compliance of AWS's global operations, including physical data centers, other AWS facilities, and customer-facing initiatives.
