Key job responsibilities
- Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment to ensure 24/7 reliability and availability
- Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
- Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA)
- Perform rack installs and rack decommissioning within internal SLA
- Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
- Technical writing to support change management program
- Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completion
- On-site support of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation
- Work schedule changes depending on specific site needs. Shifts can be up to 12-hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule. Some locations have on-call rotations.
- Role may support more than one location/site.

Willingness and demonstrated ability to work in the following physical conditions with reasonable accommodations:

A day in the life
This role acts as Amazon’s front line when it comes to hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting, reporting to a site’s Data Center Facility Manager (FM). They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission-critical data center facility equipment including stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems such as switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries and associated systems. Mechanical equipment includes CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water systems, air handlers and associated systems, pumps, and motors. Additional support equipment is included in the scope of the role which includes fire/life safety equipment, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.

- Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience in a mission-critical infrastructure or equivalent experience in a relevant industry (for example: electrical or mechanical) 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience

1. Min 6-8 years of of Data Center operations and on-call support experience for Data Center facilities. OR Min 2-3 years to in managing infrastructure of Data Center with an exposure in power generation / panel based industry. ( Capable to handle the resolution of issues till circuit level.).
2. A graduate degree in a technical field (Electrical Engg, Mech Engg, Industrial Engg) OR a diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering with a min. 4 years automation experience for the preferred generation / panel based industry.
1 An excellent understanding of the Electrical systems in critical Data Center operations that include but not limited to utility substation feeds, transformers, switchgear, VFI Class UPS, DRUPS, PDUs, ATS, STS, SLA/VRLA batteries and associated systems, diesel/gas turbine generators and related fuel systems, Surge Suppression, Active Harmonic Filtering, battery monitoring systems, branch circuit monitoring systems, SCADA systems. ·
2.An excellent understanding of the Mechanical systems in critical Data Center operations include but not limited to CRAC/CRAHs/AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, storage tanks, chemical system, heat exchangers, piping systems, pumps, valves, duct systems, fans, dampers. An excellent understanding of other facilities systems used in Data Centers and Mission critical facilities, including but not limited to fire detection and suppression systems, plumbing and drainage systems, Building Monitoring Systems, automatic control systems. An excellent understanding of design, procurement, suitability of application, testing and commissioning.
3. Certifications/Accreditations that will be viewed positively: PMP; Prince2; ITIL v2/3; BICSI; ASHRAE, CDCP/S/E or equivalent is desirable but not mandatory.

This role is vital in maintaining the continuous operation of our advanced cooling systems that support critical data center operations.

• Monitor and operate mission critical liquid cooling infrastructure
• Conduct glycol concentration testing and adjustments
• Operate and maintain water distribution systems, including water chemistry, pumps and piping networks
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of liquid cooling systems

They are responsible for day-to-day operational excellence, maintenance of the critical infrastructure, supervising specialist vendors, acting as first responders to incidents, and becoming subject matter experts for the facility.
Key job responsibilitiesThe Data Center Engineering Operation Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating within contract parameters within facilities. Often this will be including risk management and mitigation, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management and metric reporting.
- Act as the site primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders involving communication and relationship management.
- Meet daily hours of operations, on call requirements and response during rotations.
- Manage minor and major planned and unplanned site works for critical infrastructure, with a solid understanding of the works involved, risks, mitigation and seeking approvals within relevant SLA’s as required.
- Responsible for the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation.
- Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analysis, and prepare reports on all aspects of the data center facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
- Generate change management requests & incident management tickets for DCEO activities.
- Work with DCO managers (IT), Networking, Logistics, Safety, Security and other business leaders and operating partners to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability and efficiency.
- Establish documentation relevant to technical support of business & facility operations.
- Drive & implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability & reliability.
- Assist in recruiting efforts.
- Support operating partners in the resolution of any infrastructure engineering issues.
- Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, and facility management.
- Provide operational readings and key performance indicators to make sure uptime is maintained.
- Responsible for the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation.
- Performance and oversight of maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
- The candidate may require to be on-call, or work on shift. Shift work schedule changes depending on specific site needs. Shifts can be up to 12-hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule. Some locations have on-call rotations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 4+ years of relevant work experience in maintaining electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire systems experience in a data center or critical space facilities.
- Familiar with the concepts and interaction of Service Management systems (Problem and Change).
- Bachelor’s Degree in either Electrical Engineering, HVAC, Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical (military/trade school) degree and relevant experience in a critical environment.
- Understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including but not limited to DRUPS, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDUs, Chillers, AHUs and CRAC units.
- Experience in management of vendors/contractors performing construction, maintenance and upgrading works in large-scale critical environment.
- Registered with Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) as Chargeman, electrical competent person or equivalent.
