DescriptionThe Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Program within the Computer, Electrical, and Mathematical Sciences and Engineering (CEMSE) Division at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) invites applications for faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level (exceptional candidates at the Associate Professor level may be considered).
Encouraged specializations:
Power Electronics and Power Systems to pioneer energy technologies for a sustainable and electrified future. Key areas include wide bandgap semiconductors, solid-state transformers, high-efficiency converters, electric mobility, and wireless power transfer. Candidates will drive advances in smart grids, aerospace power management, modular multilevel converters, energy storage, and AI-enabled control systems.
Robotics and Autonomous Systems to advance intelligent machines for society's grand challenges. Areas of focus include soft robotics for infrastructure monitoring, underwater exploration, smart manufacturing, precision agriculture, and healthcare.
Digital Integrated Circuits to develop low-power hardware for next-generation AI and advanced computing. Focus areas include VLSI design, energy-efficient machine learning accelerators, and scalable architectures for high-performance systems.
Integrated Circuit (IC) Packaging to lead innovation in advanced 2.5D/3D integration, chiplet architectures, and heterogeneous systems. The focus is on scalable packaging platforms powering AI, quantum computing, and bioelectronics.
About the ECE Program at KAUST: The ECE program is the largest at the university, featuring a diverse student body and a 7:1 student-to-faculty ratio. The program hosts 18 primary faculty members and 9 affiliate faculty from 15 countries, including 5 female members, 11 fellows of professional societies, and 9 members among the top 2% of cited scientists worldwide. The ECE program is ranked #81 in the QS WUR Ranking by Subject and #81 in the USNEWS subject ranking worldwide for 2025. Over 50% of papers co-authored by ECE faculty are published in the top 10% of journals according to impact metric, with approximately 10% in the top 1%. Supported by KAUST's international research network and state-of-the-art facilities, our program is known for its dynamic research environment and significant translational research impact.
