- Planning & Supervision

Qualifications & Experience

- Knowledge of Saudi mining laws, Aramco/SABIC/Ministry of Industry & Mineral Resources regulations is preferred.
- Strong background in HSE management.
- Proficiency in drilling software and reporting tools (Deswik, Micromine, LogChief, or similar) is an advantage.

Performs and directs drilling engineering functions to support complex drilling operations; and leads major drilling engineering projects that require original or unusual analysis and solution.
The drilling engineer develops cost analysis, drilling and workover programs, completion reports; and performs engineering optimization studies based on offset data and drilling performance increasing efficiency. Develops casing and completion design and assists in testing new mud materials and treatments and new cementing practices and techniques. Prepares standard development practices and procedures to ensure maximum drilling efficiency consistent with safety, economics, reservoir and aquifer preservation considerations. Serves as consultant to Management and operating divisions on drilling and completion equipment design, purchase and operating problems and practices. Establishes design criteria of major oil field equipment to meet operating requirements consistent with sound economic and safety considerations. Serves as Project Engineer on all activities involved in operation and construction of new or existing well.
Some of the most critical Drilling Engineer duties are as follows:
A) Provides sound drilling engineering methods and procedures to be used on assigned drilling problems.
B) Executes and accomplishes assignments and studies in areas outlined in the scope assuring conformance to overall objectives of all phases of drilling operations in areas including drilling penetration rate optimization, new drilling technology and drilling studies.
C) Capable of providing technical support for many types of drilling wells including complex multi-lateral and extended reach (ERD) horizontal oil and gas wells, HPHT gas wells, offshore and deep water and unconventional wells. Wells include power water injection and producing wells, exploration wells and all kinds of workovers including HST's.

- Ensure Geological samples are captured as per procedure and frequency as per standing Aramco Forman's instructions and/or as per Bio-steering and Geologist requirements.
- Ensure regular compositional analysis of fluid returns is conducted using centrifuge grind outs and results are documented accordingly.
- On H2S wells above 100 ppm monitor fluid returns to the ground pit for dissolved sulphides, treat out dissolved sulphides with caustic soda and liquid H2S scavenger as per; Mud-man, Aramco Foreman and WSTL.
- Ensure Vis pill sweep frequency and wiper trip length / sequence / schedule is adjusted as per hole conditions in conjunction with instructions of the Aramco Foreman and WSTL and / or under advice of DD and Driller.
- Ensure flared gas is minimized and export gas is maximized.
