Purpose: Chief Mechanic reports directly to the Preventive Maintenance Manager, responsible for performing duties in the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, parts ordering, and administration work of the PMS system.

Key Accountabilities

  • Should have previous experience and direct exposure to rig drilling equipment which includes but not limited to: Drawworks, Top Drive System, Rotary Tables and Transmission, Crown block, Traveling block, Pneumatic and/or hydraulic winches, Pneumatic and/or hydraulic BOP hoists, Iron Roughneck, CATheads, Mud pumps, High pressure units (HPU), Mast and Sub-base Raising cylinders, engines, air compressors and air dryers, Solid Control Equipment, Air breathing system.
  • Chief Mechanic is responsible of proper maintenance for all mechanical rig equipment as per ADC MSP (Maintenance Standard Procedures).
  • Carry the Preventive Maintenance on all mechanical equipment calendar and hours meter basis as per MSP and OEM standards, fixing the reports in SAP system.
  • Carry the corrective Maintenance on all mechanical equipment in case a premature failure occurs in the rig equipment, fixing the reports in SAP system and explaining the root cause of failures and how to eliminate such failures and prevent similar failures from reoccurrence.
  • Ensure the workplace environment results in targeted retention and stability.
  • Should have hands on working experience in drilling equipment with in-depth knowledge of maintenance, repairs and functional testing & commissioning.
  • Supervise performing the daily and weekly check lists on all mechanical equipment.Keep and maintain current vendor's catalogue and OEM maintenance and parts list manuals library of all mechanical equipment in area of responsibility.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Able to read and understand pneumatic and hydraulic schematic drawings to troubleshoot the equipment in case of any failure.
  • Plans work based on appropriate sequence and procedure.
  • Take lead, motivate and guide his respective team in any trouble shooting, minor and major maintenance activities.
  • Manage and supervise all personal and professional related issues of the rig mechanical personnel and other assigned personnel.
  • Train and support the rig senior mechanics and mechanics under his supervision and run a progress report semi-annually to the Preventive Maintenance Supervisor highlighting the promising personnel and low performers.
  • Ensure that PTW system is followed and all safety regulations are adhered to ADC standards.
  • Ensure all necessary formsand documentation are completed and approved as required prior to performing the jobs during maintenance activities.
  • Provide support for emergency response and ensure all staff is fully trained and competent in emergency response procedures and have the necessary personal protective equipment for their specific duties.
  • Assist in commission new facilities as required from time to time in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Monitor and track work times, work activity schedules, performance and time off of all assigned team members.
  • Provide immediate reporting to the Rig Superintendent regarding any HSE incident, accident, and non conformances involving company staff and equipment.
  • Prepare, train and encourage all levels of maintenance staff for the opportunity to be promoted.
  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes and procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
  • Contribute to cost-efficient usage of all applicable resources to reduce unnecessary expense

Education / Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering University certificate or as a minimum Industrial Mechanics certificate or equivalent, with minimum work exposure to drilling field with at least 3 years minimum drilling field exposure as Chief Mechanic.
  • Able to read and understand pneumatic and hydraulic schematic drawings to troubleshoot the equipment in case of any failure.

As a Drilling Services Application Engineer, you will ensure Baker Hughes can deliver flawless execution through involvement in pre-planning, Job execution and post-job analysis.

As an Applications Engineer - Drilling Services, you will be responsible for:

- Designing a Drilling program, including risk mitigation plans and contingency plans, that can meet the client's objective and maximize revenue potential and future job assignments for Baker Hughes.
- Working with assigned Service Delivery Coordinator/Salesman to understand the client's well construction or production objectives as well as the commercial terms for Baker Hughes (i.e. outcome based contract, line item contract)
- Comparing job as-planned versus job as-executed and document any lessons learned to ensure opportunity for continuous improvement
- Participating in incident investigation when required, ensuring end to end process, from job planning, preparation and execution is considered to determine the incident root cause and drive appropriate corrective actions.

To be successful in this role you will:

- Have 8+ year of experience in drilling optimization engineering
- Have thorough understanding of Drilling Device Product Line and technical job planning requirements
- Have previous experiences with Well Planning/ Drilling engineering.
- Have a Bachelor's in Engineering.
- Have problem-solving, process improvement, analytical and leadership skills.

As a Lead Application Engineer, you will ensure Baker Hughes can deliver flawless execution through involvement in pre-planning, Job execution and post-job analysis.

You will be responsible for:

- Ensuring compliance with Manage the Job Cycle (MtJC) process
- Working with the assigned Service Delivery Coordinator/ Salesman to understand the client's well construction or production objectives as well as the commercial terms for Baker Hughes
- Designing a job program, including risk mitigation plans and contingency plans, that can meet the client's objective and maximize revenue potential and future job assignments for Baker Hughes
- Documenting any calculations/ simulations/plan revision and/or changes during the project cycles for visibility to dependent teams and audit purposes
- Providing on-demand support in accordance with product portfolio or on-call schedule for job execution
- Comparing job as-planned versus job as executed and document any lessons learned to ensure opportunity for continuous improvement
- Participating in Incident Investigation when required, ensuring end to end process

**Fuel your passion**

To be successful in this role you will:

- Have a Bachelor's in Engineering.
- Have 7+ years of relevant work experience.
- Have the ability to manage, develop, coach and mentor teams across organizational boundaries
- Have the ability to be on call outside of normal business hours
- Thorough understanding of P/L and technical job planning requirements
- Have the ability to travel (typically travel to rig sites, customer facilities, meetings, etc.)
