Shear International Co. Ltd is looking for a Design Engineer for its Steel Foundry & Iron Casting Factory Project in Jeddah KSA. The Design Engineer is responsible for creating, reviewing, and optimizing casting designs and tooling for various steel components. This role involves working closely with customers, production, and quality teams to ensure product manufacturability, dimensional accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. The Design Engineer also plays a key role in methoding and simulation to reduce casting defects and improve yield.
️ Key Responsibilities:
Product & Tooling Design:
- Develop 2D/3D CAD models for cast parts, patterns, core boxes, and other foundry tooling.
- Modify and optimize designs for better casting feasibility, minimizing defects and waste.
- Generate detailed technical drawings and documentation in accordance with industry standards.
- Design gating, riser systems, and layouts for steel castings using simulation tools (e.g., MAGMASOFT, ProCAST).
- Analyze simulation results and adjust methoding to ensure defect-free castings and high yield.
- Work with the production team to implement approved methoding on the shop floor.
- Participate in design reviews with internal teams and customers to ensure clarity, feasibility, and compliance with specifications.
- Provide technical support to sales and quality departments during quotation and troubleshooting processes.
- Coordinate with pattern makers and tool suppliers for new or revised tooling.
- Ensure that all designs comply with customer requirements, technical standards (ISO, ASTM), and safety norms.
- Maintain records of design changes, revisions, and approvals as per internal quality systems.
- Contribute to process and design improvements to reduce costs, improve product quality, and optimize production cycles.
- Support R&D initiatives and stay updated with latest developments in foundry design technologies.
- Master’s / Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in foundry or heavy industry design engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) and casting simulation software (preferred).
- Strong understanding of foundry processes, tooling, and metallurgical principles.
- Good knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, and technical standards.
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

In your role as a Design Engineer, you will engineer and design applications of medium complexity based on Hilti modular support systems within Hilti’s Installation System Business Unit portfolio. Function as Discipline Project Engineer, assuming responsibility for the work of the group.
Plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project requiring significant manpower and financial resources.
