Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Participates in the compilation of basic process design data; finalizes process scheme & equipment selection.
  • Prepares preliminary design, drawings, detailed drawings and fabrication details.
  • Participates with the Design Manager in the final selection of process, plant and equipment.
  • Liaises with Project & Proposals Engineers to ensure smooth implementation of design; carries out design checks and certification as required.

Responsibilities
  • The Design Director coordinates with the control and governance team to develop an action plan and prioritize projects. He/She develops designs for landscaped environments and exteriors, private gardens, major land developments and infrastructure and public & business parks from initial concept through design development to detailed design and tender documents. Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Design Manager to oversee day-to-day design execution and coordination across residential, commercial, hospitality, logistics, and mixed-use projects. The role focuses on managing workflows, ensuring compliance, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality, cost-effective design solutions that align with Blacksand’s vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Coordination and Management: Manage the design process, ensuring deliverables meet project timelines, quality, and operational goals. Support the design team by providing clear guidance, task assignments, and follow-ups to ensure smooth workflow. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants to resolve design challenges and meet project objectives.
  • RFPs, Tenders, and Documentation: Prepare and coordinate design-related inputs for RFPs, tenders, and procurement processes. Review and ensure technical documents, drawings, and specifications meet project requirements.
  • Budget and Value Engineering: Monitor design budgets and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality or functionality. Assist in value engineering exercises to develop cost-effective and practical design solutions.
  • Compliance and Quality Control: Ensure all designs comply with local regulations, industry standards, and Blacksand’s brand guidelines. Review design documentation for accuracy, quality, and alignment with project goals.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Prepare design presentations and reports for project stakeholders, internal teams, and external partners. Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and consultants to resolve implementation challenges during project execution.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of design workflows and project coordination processes.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in design management or coordination within real estate development.
  • Proven experience working on residential, hospitality, or mixed-use projects.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in design tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with an eye for detail.
  • Solid understanding of budgets, timelines, and value engineering processes.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

Other Requirements:

  • Familiarity with local building regulations and permitting processes.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
