As a Design Manager you'll be responsible for managing the design and aspects of building construction projects from concept through to completion. This role ensures the design is delivered to the required quality, budget, and schedule, coordinating closely with architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the coordination and management of all design activities on infrastructure projects.
  • Review and validate architectural, structural, MEP, and specialist designs to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain the project design program, aligning it with procurement and construction timelines.
  • Manage the design team, including internal staff and external consultants.
  • Conduct regular design reviews and clash detection, ensuring integration across disciplines.
  • Liaise with clients, authorities, and stakeholders to secure required approvals and permits.
  • Provide technical input during tendering and construction stages, resolving design-related issues.
  • Monitor design changes, assess impacts, and manage design-related risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure that the design is buildable, cost-effective, and aligns with sustainability and safety goals.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in design management on infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Proficient in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools) and project management tools.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage the design process from inception to completion to ensure successful project delivery
  2. Collaborate with the project team to develop and execute design solutions

  4. Manage resourcing of design team and coordinate with other functional leaders to ensure efficient and effective project delivery
  5. Identify and escalate key design issues and risks, and work collaboratively with other stakeholders to develop actionable solutions
  6. Provide regular updates on the progress of design development to project and program leadership
  7. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant local regulations and codes
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field

You'll Be Responsible For

You'll Need To Have

  • An architecture background and professional membership (e.g. RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, CIAT) or equivalent demonstrable development.
  • Proven experience delivering complex real estate projects with strong consultancy and construction expertise.
  • In-depth knowledge of building safety legislation, standards, contracts, appointments, and HSE regulations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and understanding of sustainability and carbon impacts on project delivery.
