JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled
Technical Design Engineer
with 3 to 8 years of proven experience in the design and engineering of Low Voltage (LV) electrical panel boards and systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating client requirements and project specifications into robust, compliant, and cost-effective electrical designs, ensuring technical excellence from concept through to commissioning support. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, relevant industry standards, and proficiency in design software.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Electrical Design & Documentation:

Develop detailed electrical designs for various LV panel boards including, but not limited to, Main Distribution Boards (MDBs), Sub-Main Distribution Boards (SMDBs), Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Final Distribution Boards (DBs), Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Panels, Power Factor Correction (PFC) Panels, Synchronization Panels, and Control Panels.

3. Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layout drawings, and bill of materials (BOM).

4. Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, international standards (IEC 61439, IEC 60364 series), and local regulations (SASO, SEC requirements).

5. Technical Analysis & Calculations:

6. Perform essential electrical calculations such as load calculations, voltage drop, short-circuit current analysis, and protection device coordination studies.

7. Determine optimal busbar sizing, cable sizing, and component ratings.

8. Component Selection & Specification:

9. Select appropriate electrical components (e.g., circuit breakers, contactors, relays, meters, current transformers, voltage transformers, PLCs, VFDs) based on technical requirements, performance, cost-effectiveness, and availability.

10. Prepare detailed technical specifications and data sheets for procurement.

11. Collaboration & Coordination:

12. Work closely with the Sales/Estimation team during the bidding phase to provide technical solutions and cost-effective designs.

13. Coordinate with Project Management to ensure design alignment with project timelines and deliverables.
14. Liaise with the Production/Fabrication team to address design queries, ensure manufacturability, and provide technical support during assembly.

15. Collaborate with clients, consultants, and third-party inspectors for design reviews, approvals, and technical clarifications.

16. Quality Assurance & Improvement:

17. Participate in internal design reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to quality standards.

18. Assist in troubleshooting design-related issues during factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning.

19. Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes, tools, and standards within the company.

22. Prepare technical submittals and O&M manuals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education:
  Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Experience:
  Minimum of 3 to 8 years of progressive experience in electrical design, specifically within the manufacturing or engineering of Low Voltage (LV) switchgear, control panels, or power distribution systems.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical).
• Experience with electrical calculation software (e.g., ETAP, Ecodial, Amtech) is a strong plus.
• In-depth knowledge of international electrical standards (IEC, UL, NEMA) and local codes/regulations (SASO, SEC).
• Strong understanding of power distribution principles, protective relaying, and control circuit design.
• Familiarity with various LV components from reputable manufacturers.
• Ability to read, interpret, and prepare complex electrical drawings and specifications.
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal (English proficiency is a must; Arabic is a plus).

As local support for a wider Contract and Engineering team, the role will entail closely interacting with other design, contract and technical engineers.
