Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain subcontractor files, ensuring they are up-to-date with insurance certificates and correspondence. Monitor subcontractor expenses against budget and prepare draft amendments as needed.
  • Maintain the prime contract file, ensuring it is current with all required documentation.
  • Prepare and negotiate changes to the scope of work with clients and contractors.
  • Develop and implement action plans to address potential cost overruns, delays, or significant scope changes, while keeping clients and company management informed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate management of change orders.
  • Supervise the preparation of monthly construction progress reports and contract status reports for the client.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Kent is looking for a Head of Department – Electrical Engineering to deliver high-quality engineering work in line with project standards and schedules.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Primary Duties:

  • Allocate appropriate discipline resources for the execution of proposals, Concept Studies (DBSPs), FEED, FEED Verifications and detailed engineering on projects.
  • Prepare verbal or written reports as required, stating the current workload in the group and whether it will meet set targets. If not, give the reasons why not and list the steps taken, or which need to be taken, to get back on target.
  • Make sure that all the information needed by engineers to perform their work is available before they need it so that work progresses at a smooth and steady pace, on time and on target.
  • Provide assessments for the Engineering, on the performance of the various engineers/designers.
  • Ensure that any necessary reference material is readily available to engineers whether it be a National or Client Standard, Procedure, or recognized Code of Practice. Also, ensure that the most used vendor literature is available.
  • Allocate work packages to suitable engineers, monitor progress against the schedule, resolve queries and generally expedite the progress of the design.
  • Liaise with the relevant Engineering with respect to resources and equipment requirements needed for the discipline to complete the work.
  • Ensure all engineering work meets technical standards, project requirements, and codes.
  • Review and approve key engineering deliverables, including drawings, calculations, and specifications.
  • Coordinate multi-discipline engineering activities.

Leadership & Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and managing all engineers within the discipline.
  • Define department goals, priorities, and resource allocation.
  • Promote teamwork, knowledge sharing, and professional development.

Project Coordination & Support:

  • Work closely with project managers to ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs.
  • Identify technical risks and provide solutions.
  • Support procurement by reviewing technical specifications for materials and equipment.

Quality, Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards across all disciplines.
  • Participate in audits, design reviews, and inspections.

Position: Head of Design Department Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Design Department across all disciplines (Architecture, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical).
  • Ensure the quality of deliverables and compliance with Saudi Building Codes and international standards.
  • Supervise and review designs, and coordinate across disciplines to maintain consistency.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams to align design outputs with project requirements.
  • Develop and implement design standards, procedures, and innovative solutions to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and performance evaluation for the design team.
  • Participate in project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Approve design documents and drawings, ensuring timely submission.

Requirements

  • Mandatory Requirement: The applicant must currently hold or have previously held a senior managerial position in an engineering consultancy firm.
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the engineering disciplines (Architecture, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Mechanical). Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of design experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of Saudi Building Codes, NFPA standards, and international design regulations.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams within consultancy firms.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, etc.).
  • Fluency in Arabic and English preferred.

Reigate Grammar School Riyadh (RGSR) is a British International School educating approximately 1,500 students aged 3-18. Established in 2022, RGSR is the first of a series of schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to be opened in partnership between Reigate Grammar School (RGS) and ADECO.

RGS was founded by Alderman Henry Smith in 1675. For over 345 years, young people have been educated on the same site, in the heart of Reigate, a historic market town 15 miles south of the City of London.
