Minimum Requirements
- 1 to 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant.
- Dental Assistance Bachelor’s Degree, or Diploma from a recognized National Dental Assistant Program.
- Valid professional registration and license as a Dental Assistant recognized by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years or more of practical experience in a dental clinical setting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

**Essential Responsibilities and Duties**:
1.Ensures that medical charts are available and distributed to appropriate clinics.
2.Liaises with referring physicians regarding scheduling and admission of all inpatient general anaesthesia patients, and ensures all surgical clearance patients are treated as planned.
3.Assumes the coordination between dentists, Operation Room (OR) level II and IV, referring physicians, and admission offices regarding scheduling and admission of all inpatient general anaesthesia patients.
4.Reviews patient medical records for eligibility, health status, sequence of treatment, appointment length and designated dentist. Places appointment orders in Power Chart. Documents in R4 all the orders placed.
5.Coordinates appointments for patients requiring multiple, sequential, and/or combined appointments within Dental Clinic (DC). Assists in managing and tracking the daily referral of new patients to the DC. Triages walk-in pain patients, assesses patient dental needs. Schedules patients in on-call clinics and/or in place of no-show appointments by maintaining the waiting list.
6.Coordinates the care for orthographic surgery cases thru liaison with OMFS and orthodontics.
7.Schedules all add-on appointments in ICIS bar for same day and next day. Notifies dentist and/or dental assistant of changes. Receives patient acceptance referrals and schedules as needed. Receives and documents eligibility acceptance papers. Notifies supervisor of scheduling discrepancies. Assists with resolution of scheduling problems.
8.Coordinates the sequential care for dental implant and rare dental disorder patients.
9.Maintains listing of Head & Neck oncology patients referred to the department of Dentistry and ensures all patients receive regular follow up appointments.
10.Liaises with Cleft Lip & Palate (CLP) nursing coordinator and program director to ensure appropriate dental treatment is available for CLP patients.
11.Contributes in providing feedback to the department of Dentistry management with regards to availability and utilization of DC resources.
12.Performs chairside dental assisting duties, and participates in on-call roster, as required.
13.Participates in Hospital wide performance improvement activities.
14.Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
15.Participates in self and other education, training, and development, as applicable.
16.Performs other related duties as assigned.
**Education**:
Bachelor’s or Associate Degree/Diploma in Dental Assistance is required.
**Experience Required**:
- Grade 08:
Two (2) years of related experience with Bachelor’s or four (4) years with Associate Degree/Diploma is required.
- Grade 09:
- Four (4) years as Dental Assistant I at KFSH&RC.
- Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years.
- Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continued medical education (CME).
**Other Requirements(Certificates)**:
- Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
- Certified Dental Assistant Registry (CDA)from point of origin is required for eligible, and Registration of (R.D.A.), or Certification of (C.D.A.) is required.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
